We leave it on loud all night. Today my husband turned it off while DS was napping in my arms in the living room and he woke right up. White noise is his sleep cue!

@T.H.O.U.: we have the sleep sheep as well but when it went off LO would wake right up!

All night - I heard it's supposed to help them get through sleep transitions that happen throughout the night.

All night. Her room is right off our living room, and I don't want to tiptoe around.

Yup, all night. We use an old iphone with an app and the other night it was unplugged and died and I'm not sure if it woke her immediately or not, but she was up.

It's on all night! And, we bring it to grandparents houses when he needs to nap there too. I have a sound machine addict!

When she was younger we did to drown out our noises. Now she just has the fisher price oceans wonder aquarium in her crib and turns it on and off herself.

all night so they don't wake each other up if the other wakes up in the middle of the night. it wouldn't matter as much if we had one kid, but with 2, a white noise machine is a must!

All night for sure! We use a different setting for naps and nightime which works really well for us.

All night for sure. Sleep sheep didn't help us any. When I was still on maternity leave, the sheep would turn off and he'd wake up. When I visited my parents, I forgot the sheep, ran to Target and got our sound machine. We now have 3 of them.

@cascademom: yeah the sleep sheep did not work for us. it is a good idea but why can't they make a continuous option??

All night. When we sleep trained her at 3.5 months, we switched from sleep sheep to Marpac and have been leaving it on all night since.

@jmarionsmith: I wondered the same thing. I remember trying to nap with the baby on the couch and him in the RNP and always having to hit the button for it. I found the baby Homedics sound machine to be perfect for us. It's his best sleep cue. I've gotten used to the sound as well that when we stay at my parents, I can fall asleep so easily to it when he's in the same room with us.
