I grew up in Seattle and it has it's highs and lows. Anyone who thinks Seattle has great weather hasn't lived many other places sorry, but no. Its GREY there, A LOT. I live in Maine now, and it might be cold as hell out, but it's almost always blindingly sunny with bright blue skies. There are plenty of days in Seattle (and weeks, on end) you can barely see the tops of the skyskapers downtown due to the grey, foggy gloom. Then there is the "gel rain". The consistency of shower gel - because it's too warm for snow and too cold for rain. Welcome to winter.

On the other side, I grew up blocks from Woodland Park Zoo and still think of it often. I love Greenlake and wish I could buy my old house in Greenwood. No matter what kind of music you like, you're covered. It's certainly more pedestrian friendly (and public-transit friendly) than LA, and also friendlier in general. The summer days are short and beautiful. Buy snow tires, because no one else does and you'll want to get around should it snow.

We lived east of Boulder for a couple years, Lafayette and Louisville are nearby and much more affordable that living in Boulder, very family friendly towns. We spent a lot of time in both Boulder and Denver exploring, and I commuted to Fort Collins for school (Go Rams!). The outdoor lifestyle was a big reason for us to move there- hiking, biking, skiing/snowboarding. We both commuted to Denver for work, about a 30 minute commute, not bad at all considering. The weather varies, it can get cold in the winter and hot in the summer, but for the most part it stays very mild compared to other places we have lived. One Christmas we hiked in sweatshirts, the next we were under 4 feet of snow. The good news is that the weather changes often. Unfortunately our job market is saturated in that area, so we ended up moving Otherwise, I would still happily live there!
