I do, but we didn't register for it. Our pattern was one that we found in thrift stores. It's called the Diane by the Wade company and they stopped aking it in the 1970's. We started with 4 cups, saucers, and plates, but now have full service for 8 plus extras. We also have serving bowls, gravy bowl, coffee pot and more. We've added it all from thrift stores and second hand stores. The hunt's half the fun.

Oh, I forgot to mention that we'll inherit my MIL's china, and probably a set of my GMIL's sterling silver.

I ALWAYS wanted to register for china and was looking forward to it, but through some weird circumstances, my now-husband bought an entire set of Noritake, a pattern called "stella" that was discontinued in 1971. They were actually made in Japan, before noritake started making their stuff in other countries.

I like it, so we still have it (originally, my plan was to sell it)...but it's not my favorite.

@Anagram: Ours was made in Japan too.

We do! DH was super excited to pick a pattern when we were engaged. We entertain with it for more formal things, and I make a point to use it Sundays, even if we just order pizza! It's Orsay by Philippe Deshoulieres in powder blue.

We haven't used it yet as we haven't hosted any holiday dinners. However, with the Junebug coming soon, maybe that will change!

Nope. We have quite a bit of family china that will eventually pass down, so there's no real reason to have our own. Plus, we'll never be at home for holiday meals.

@mrs. bird: I have Tin Can Alley! (And I need some more because LO has been helping unload the dishwasher these days...and I've lost some bowls to the tile floor.) I never really thought of it as china--it's what we use every day too.

I like plates and glasses and such, so I will sometimes buy an individual place setting or plate/bowl when I see them at a decent price. (The BB&B where I used to live got a lot of fancy wedding returns so they had deeply discounted individual settings that sung to me every time I went there...dangerous!) The result is a total mish-mash at holidays, but I dig it. I've mostly picked up pieces in some variation of white, gold, and silver, so my table glitters. So, yes, I've got china, but it mostly doesn't "match." I bust it out once and while just for fun.

@Anagram: The pale blue is an homage to our wedding, but I do love the white. It's so classic! Maybe you can replace yours down the road, but in the meantime, how neat to have something so unique with its own story!

Yes, we registered for china and bought most of it with our registry completion! I've yet to use it (in our 4.5 yrs being married!) because we were in such a small condo before, and now I just haven't gotten around to taking them out of the boxes and washing before a dinner party every time!

But I LOVE having it! My parents didn't have ANYTHING heirloom or traditional to pass down to me. Partly because they're immigrants and partly because they're not sentimental.
I love the idea of having this set for the rest of our lives and maybe our daughter our grand-daughter will want it some day...

* Sorry for the photo bomb but I love our set! Some pics: close up detail on the charger plate is different than the rest of the plates (just simple dots), and I got to meet her in person for a show a couple years ago and had her sign on of our plates and wedding pics (also wore ML for my wedding dress).

@shopaholic: My GMIL is from England, lived in the US for about 65 years, and still very much adores China and Silver. She has 3 sets of Sterling and none of her other grands are interested. I adore antiques but live on an Ikea budget. My SIL isn't into China so we'll get MIL's stuff too. I'm blessed.

We have Vera Wang Grosgrain by Wedgwood. Our crystal is Ballet Ribbon by Waterford. It was expected by my family that we would register for china and crystal.

Nope. My mom has some she inherited from my grandmother, which I assume I'll one day get, also. but, I have no use for it, cause we're not dinner party type people.

We have Waterford Ballet Ribbon Gold. I love it! We use it for special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays.

Yes, we inherited my MIL's set of china. I'm not sure what it is but it's gorgeous! At least, it was gorgeous once I cleaned 20 years of smoke grime off of it >.<

We are also slowly buying a complete Spode Xmas set. My mom is loathe to part with hers, and since it was a big part of my Xmas growing up, I'm buying my own! So far we have like... 4 plates and some serving trays lol!
