Depends. Some things DH or I will fix. Other things like replacing the pilot light in our water heater, we'll have someone come and do it for us.

We're mostly a DIY kind of couple. I grew up that way, and DH's dad is a general contractor. The only thing we've hired someone to do was install a new furnace, A/C and garage door opener, and put in new kitchen counters (we DIY tiled the bathrooms though).
And DH knows if I'm quiet, I'm probably up to no good. I rewired an outlet to get our internet working when we first moved in together. He was in the basement playing poker, I'd had a glass of wine and wanted to surf the web. He comes upstairs and catches me red handed with a screwdriver!

Since the only issues we’ve run into in our condo have been the direct result of a handyman who thought he was a professional and could do anything (previous owner installing pipes to the expensive water heating system incorrectly, which burned out the circuit board early which then had to be replaced and repiped to the tune of almost 2k – and similar situation with incorrect pipes under the sink which hasn’t cost us anything yet but will in the future) – we hire professionals for anything plumbing/electrical or related.

For something like lawn care, we can do ourselves. It’s nice to have a cleaning service come in every so often to do a deep clean, but it’s not hard to keep our house clean ourselves so I don't see us hiring a cleaning service on a real regular basis.

DH is pretty much our handy man. For other things, we pay people. Like the lawn, cleaning, and bigger things like roofing or heating/cooling.

We do most things. I need to get a handyman out to fix our freezer, we can't do that. My Dad was never very handy but my Mom could normally figure things out. We did have to call for plumbers and electricians, though if we had big problems.

We try to DIY as much as we can since my dad and BIL are super handy. However, when it's just beyond our knowledge and it's urgent, we call someone. When we do call someone, we watch over their shoulder so that we know how to do it ourselves next time. I'm sure they hate that we watch them though.

DH is pretty much adamantly against spending money on hiring someone, since he is pretty handy around the house. Obviously if we need some type of MAJOR repair (like a new roof) he might hire someone. Otherwise, he can fix it.

I wish he felt the opposite so we could hire a maid already!

(growing up we had a maid, a pool guy, a lawn guy, a plumber, etc.)

Mostly DIY, but for big things we will pay. I feel like DH tries to be handyman and just gets mad, usually my dad comes over and finishes the project for him.

We (mostly) pay for things to get done, but it's largely because we work so much (and DH travels quite a bit), and we want to maximize what free time we have. Although DH definitely knows his way around a tool box . . . he is super handy, I just hate to have a honey do list when he already works so hard.

We are an "outsourcing" couple. Pay a plumber, electrician, handyman, whoever. I'm not skilled in that dept. and DH works like 90 hours a week including weekends. We also have a cleaning person come every other week

I'm pretty handy with using a tools to put shelves up but anything technical like pluming, electrical. I leave that to the pros.
