I text way more than I call. It just seems so much easier to text a question or quick comment instead of calling. Do you prefer to text or call someone?

I like texting for quick exchanges of info, but prefer calling to have a conversation that requires more than 3 or 4 exchanges

Text for the most part, unless I'm bored and want a real chat, then its phone.

Text for sure, then email. Having an actual phone conversation is just hard to make time for these days.

text is more convenient. i realized the other day a good friend of mine who just moved back from another state...we hadn't had a phone conversation in almost two years! eek!

I must be a little anti-social haha I so prefer to text! Someone contacted me about my craigslist listing this week and I wanted to hash out details via email and text and they wanted me to just call. urgh. such an inconvenience!

this reminds me of the line in an episode of Community - "oh no! she was born in the 80s! she still uses her phone as a phone!"

Text. It drives DH crazy that I won't just call people. I hate talking on the phone to anyone other than my parents and DH.

Text. I also hate speaking on the phone. It drives me mad when I text someone a quick question (even one which could turn into a long exchange) and they call me. I don't want to speak to them!!!

E-mail!
Call though - I don't have a texting plan and find texting annoying. I can see the appeal sometimes, but it often seems like people have these long drawn out conversations through texting that could be done a lot quicker and more efficiently if they actually spoke to each other. Plus you can't tell tone as easily with a text (or an e-mail), so it's easy to read something into a text that isn't there.
The other reason I hate texting is because many people who do it are just RUDE. They'll be hanging out with me in person and then texting their other friends half the time! They wouldn't talk on their phone with their friends while hanging out with me, so they shouldn't be texting them either! I just think that's so rude to do, but most people think it's the norm!

Text. I am on the phone all day at work so by the time I get home I can't stand being on the phone even more. The only people I actually call are my mom, dad, and sister. Everyone else gets texts, emails, or fb messages.

Text. Firstly, I hate talking on the phone. Secondly, keep my phone on silent because of baby so I will almost always miss your call. And I don't check voicemail. If you need me, please text. Unless your text is "Call me". The worst text of all time. Ugh.

Texting for sure, unless I need an immediate response like "I'm at the intersection of X and Y so which corner are we meeting at again?"

@highwire: YES. my mom will call 12 times in a row, and then always send the ridiculous "call me" text. THE WORST.

Text for personal communication... phone for business communication. I don't enjoy chatting on the phone for hours "just because" anymore
