I very rarely wear eyeliner now, but when I do I apply it after eyeshadow as I mostly wear eyeshadows in shades of brown and it would cover the liner otherwise.

I put it on before, but (for daytime) I only ever wear eyeshadow in the crease of my eye lids (I have pretty big peepers). In terms of eyeliners, I like L'Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil liner, and I also love to line my eyes with any brown/black liner, and then take an angled brush and go over that line with eyeshadow that has been made into a paste with a little water. It lasts forever, and makes winging the ends out slightly super easy!

I always put it on after...If I don't want it to look too harsh, I do a dark brown instead of black...Always the gel liner though. I love the gel liners!

I don't wear it very often, but usually after eyeshadow (if I'm wearing eyeshadow at all). I have two cheap kinds of eyeliner - a brown pencil-y one that's maybe Maybelline? I can't quite remember. And then a black inky marker one that's Loreal. I love that one, but it's definitely harsher than the pencil kind. Better for nighttime.

@swurlygurl: I like to put a layer of foundation on my eyelids before any liner (or shadow) is applied.

I put it on afterwards but if I think it looks too harsh, sometimes I put a little eyeshadow over it.

After and I use a sponge to soften the line. It doesn't take off the eyeshadow but blends in. I use Facade.

If I wear eye makeup I line my eyes- shadow- line again to make.crisp- use lash primer- finish with a light coat of mascara.

I'll usually eyeshadow up, then use eyeliner, then go over the eyeliner with a black powder eyeshadow...so kind of both I guess...technically after though.

Oh it totally depends. Liquid goes on afterwards--i use a sephora liquid liner with a foam tip. easy peasy. Sometimes i put it on before if i have a light eyeshadow and a dark brown eye pencil (sephora's waterproof one is amazing. No smudges) but I lean towards darker neutrals so it tends to go on afterwards. But i like liquid the best because I can do a very very thin line and it just sort of amps up my eyelashes without me having to put lots of mascara on. I wear glasses at work so I feel like I have to wear a little more on my eyes anyways. I don't have a lot of eye to work with, though. They're very almond shaped without much hood

@linsdayinnyc: I use Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Gel Eyeliner. It really is the best. So smooth and goes on stays on really nicely. I have it in the black shade and brown shade!

definitely after. i wear eyeliner every time i leave the house. eye shadow is for special occasions only (so basically hardly ever).

@photojane: I like the EL pencils . . . . I used one for a loooong time!

I like MAC's liners! They go on smoothly and last forever. Although, I have recently heard that the Sephora brand liner was good, so I'm going to give that one a try since it's a bit cheaper.

I put it on after, but use a little smudge stick on it on my bottom lid, to soften the line a little.

after. i then use a smudge brush so it makes it less harsh looking. i use benefit bad gal.

If I put it on before eyeshadow, I tend to get it smudged under my eyes more because it kind of waters. So after usually!
