What is the proper etiquette for gifts received for a birthday party for babies? Do you send thank you cards on behalf of your babies for birthday gifts? We have received 1 in the past but the majority of our friends haven't sent them.

Absolutely. I think it's very rude to not send a thank you, for any event in which a gift was received. Sadly, we rarely receive thank you's.

I write them on behalf of my son and send thank you notes, but I do it because I like to and it's not that much of a time suck.
I don't really worry if anyone else sends me a thank you or not, more often than not, we get a note, but even if we don't, I am okay with that if they thanked me in person.

I tend to send thank you emails from A, I'd send notes but all out family is overseas and it would be crazy expensive! When we move back home I will write thank you cards until she's old enough to take over.

It took me a month to send out ours (whoops), but I sent it from me and my hubs, not from the baby.

I do. I usually write it from me though, because obviously my baby can't write yet. I sign it from me, DH, and LO.

Nope. Thank you cards are not common around here. I have never received (or sent) thank you cards.

Yes. Some people will see it as overkill, but i figure it's always better to overdo it than offend someone.

Definitely! I think it's polite to acknowledge someone's thoughtfulness.

Yes, we still hand write thank you cards on LO's behalf. I receive a lot more emails/texts now...probably 3+ years ago I got a lot more cards from friends

My LO and I share a bday, so I write one note from both if us for the time being. I do think its a little rude when we don't receive thank you's for gifts (and don't think a text is enough). An email...maybe (my husband's family does this), but I wouldn't go this route myself.
