LO has gotten a few bday presents already and I have yet to send thank yous. I just realized we gifted a friend who just turned 1 almost 2 months ago and no thank you. Doesn't really bother me because I know she liked and appreciated the gift. Is it standard to not write thank yous if you lo gets bday gifts? What do people do nowadays?

I would but I don't always get ty notes when I send gifts. I still think it's the right thing to do.

We're not quite at the birthday yet but I'm a big believer in thank you notes! I've sent them for other gifts M has received.

My LO was not interested in opening presents at his party so I did most of the opening for him...which meant no one else recorded what he received and from whom. I mailed out a photo thank-you card but it wasn't personalized or handwritten like I normally try to do.

We are pretty big on ty notes but i have not gotten a lot of notes back from our gifts either.

I usually do...our parents only gave gifts though and I'm guilty of not giving them thank you's - I probably should have still written them.

I LOVE thank you cards, we gave them for our wedding and baby shower gifts/attendees and plan to keep doing so for LO for birthday gifts and such (: Now, I wish I was friends with some bees in real life since I have only once ever received a thank you card in return, for a destination wedding. We have been to several baby showers, weddings, etc... Oh well, I will keep giving them anyway (:

I asked this yesterday and the overwhelming response was that you should write a thank you note.

I always write them, but hardly ever receive them.

I would definitely write a thank you! Especially if you received a gift in the mail - otherwise how does the sender know for sure that you received it?

I sent them for LO's first birthday since we didn't get a chance to open presents at his party in front of guests. This year I attempted to write out thank you cards but failed due to being so tired from pregnancy. He was able to open presents and thank each guests individually for the present at his party so I think that counts.

@yin: I think that if your LO was able to thank people in person, that's good enough!!! I'm more inclined to send a thank you if I received the gift in the mail or like now, Xander's too young to thank people himself, so I would send one.
