Say someone spent $100 on your wedding gift and then got married, did you spend $100 on theirs as well?
I have an acquaintance who is coming to my baby shower, and then hers is the month after..so i'm going to wait and see what kind of gift she gets me and get her something similar lol! We did the same for a friends wedding, they got us a really crappy gift and we got them something similar, oops.

I don't go to great lengths to remember how much someone spent, but if the two events are close together - sure! I'm glad that M's birthday is before her "best friend"'s birthday so I can see if the other mom does anything and follow suit!

I do, roughly. I figure its less awkward all around- I know I'd feel weird if we gave someone $50 and they gave us $200, you know? But if there went was later and we were in a better place financially then, I'd give more.
The year we got married I purposely gave gifts from registries instead of cash to avoid the "here's $200, feel free to return it at our wedding" feeling.

Yes, I definitely do this! Though I have my go-to amounts if someone else is the first of something! I just hope I can remember what some of these people spent on me when it comes time to gift them!

I have a standard I dont go below, so even if someone spent $10 on my gift I would still get them something respectable. I focus more on the value of it than how much I spend. so if its worth $50 and i find it on sale for $5 I'm okay with that
