We just moved LO to a convertible car seat, and I'm wondering how necessary a sun shade/cover is? Like this one:

We are in Florida and we don't use one. I've actually never seen it before..... but I don't feel the need for it. It never gets too hot.

I just started keeping a blanket in my car that I'll just throw over the seat when I'm parked out in the sun. I haven't noticed the seat getting too hot though.

I use a white fitted crib sheet and it works like a charm! Otherwise the buckles get super hot.

I've never even thought about it! It's been hot here lately too. I'll have to feel the buckles before I put her in next time. Hopefully I would have noticed if they were super hot.

@scg00387: I've thought about this, too, but didn't know if it worked? I wasn't sure if the reflective material was clutch.

I've never even seen something like this. We live in Texas and it's been hot since... well it never really got unhot this year. We leave the seat uncovered and it's never been an issue.

@allison: it works well for us! I have a backseat window shade cling thing too which cuts down on sun as well. The sheet was dirt cheap so worth a shot before you buy the fancy one!

I just throw a blanket over the seat and try to park in the shade if we aren't in the garage. The seat will still be warm but it seems to keep the buckles from getting so hot that they hurt. Whenever possible I try to open the doors and turn the car on a few minutes before putting the kids in, it helps a lot.
