DD has unfortunately inherited my hair - fine and half curly, half straight (the top layers are straight and underneath curly). I hardly ever leave her hair down because it's just a frizzy mess. I'm wondering if I could use product in her hair to tame it or to encourage the curls.

My DD has inherited my DH's hair - fine and straight. People say she has my hair but I bleach and straighten mine to look like that!!! The only "product" we use is conditioning spray, because she gets terrible knots. But I must admit to blow drying her hair into her "style" every evening! If I don't, it sticks up in all directions!

Sometimes I'll put a little gel in J's bangs, and in the back where his cowlicks are. His hair is thick and grows straight down over his face and he has two cowlicks at the crown that swirl out in opposite directions.

Hers is pretty straight on top but really curly in the bottom. Also a lot shorter than your daughters though

My daughter has VERY curly, dry hair (1/2 AA) so I use a ton of product in it. Your LO has very fine hair so I wouldn't use a lot. Maybe a spray leave-in conditioner?

@BeachMama: never! it's too untouched and perfect. i spent way too ling coloring and cutting my hair and assume at some point she will do the same. i want to keeo it natural as long as i can. their hair changes a little too when they go from newborn to toddler to kiddo.

I don't use anything, but her hair is often a mess. It's very fine and curly and pretty short, so I don't think there is much I can do. It's short enough that I just let it be wild. I always wanted curly hair so I just embrace hers. We get lots of compliments on it.
Eta: you can kind of see it here. Gets curvier during warm or humid weather.

I use conditioner in her hair and sometimes I blow-dry it if she's sick or it's cold outside.

Both get grownup conditioner. I don't understand what they put in baby conditioner because it does nothing.
The older one gets curl cream. -

I use grownup conditioner in her hair every time we wash it (like every other day). Sometimes I use a bit of CA Baby hair jelly too, but using conditioner has helped a ton.

I don't use anything on LO. I have hair like your daughter's. Not washing it too much (like only once or twice a week), and long layers help tame it. Product mostly weighs it down, although Aveda's Be Curly gel in very small quantities holds curls together quite well. I wouldn't put anything in her hair regularly, she is adorable!

@BeachMama: My hair looks a lot like hers, and I use coconut oil in my hair to keep it tamed. It doesn't help a ton with the curls, but it does help the natural curl keep its shape and refrain from frizzing out into craziness. Right after I get out of the shower I put a dime size into my palms, rub my hands together, and then scrunch all over - that's it. It takes a couple times to figure out the perfect amount you need (otherwise it can look a bit greasy)

My DS has very curly hair, I run a tiny bit of coconut oil through it when it's wet and it really helps define the curls.

I just ordered a bunch of Hot Tot for LO. They have a curl serum. I got the curl serum, detangler, shampoo and conditioner. Their products are free of all the bad stuff and use as many organic ingredients are possible. Super excited to try them!
I also just bought her the travel gloss brush from Sephora (combo boar and plastic bristles). My gloss worked so well for her hair type and the travel one is just perfect for her!

DD's hair is always a mess because I dont put anything in it. My friend raves about California baby hair conditioner. Its a leave in/rinse out conditioner

@BeachMama: Our daughters have the same type hair! I always brush it, which takes out the curls and I end up with a rat's nest. She inherited it from DH's side of the family and I have no idea how to handle it, so it's always in a braid or tied back in a ponytail. I never thought of using a leave-in because of her sensitive skin (although I've never actually tried). I'm definitely looking into it now.

We use Suave Kids mousse. It's light and alcohol-free. It only takes a little, and it dries without residue. Her hair still feels soft after using it!

We use the spray conditioner from CA baby, but by morning, it's a mess. The spray bottle of water and rebrushing in the morning would help retain her waves/curls.

@birdofafeather: aveda be curly curl enhancer. We used to use the CA Baby spray but it after a while I realized it was only good to brush out tangles, it didn't do anything to keep her hair manageable.

Recently we used some of DH's hair wax on DS to give it some more texture, and it was so cool!
