DS doesn't really have a nickname but we sometimes call DD Squeakie because she squeaks.

Yes we use the planned nickname. I also call him by the nickname Taco LOL!

This is kind of funny for me to read. DS will be named Declan, and I've been thinking I'd call him Dex sometimes for short. But now I'm wondering if that'll actually happen, haha.

Yep! We use her full name and nickname at a 50/50 rate I would say. Though her daycare uses her nickname almost exclusively (one of the other mamas didn't know it was a nickname until recently and she has been there for 5 months now)! And DH's family uses her nickname more than her full name. My family uses her full name almost exlusively.
Oh and her name is Ellora, nn Ellie - lots of Ellie's up in here! Nice!

Not yet! His initals are AJ, but it seems more fitting for when he's school aged? We still just call him by his first name... or stinky poopoopants

@sorrycharlie: Weird but I totally call your LO by her nn in my head
@lindseykaye: I love the name Ellora!

@mrsjyw: AJ's unite!
I call him by his full name. Occasionally his nn, but I love his full name and I love calling him by his full name. Other people are the ones who call him by his nn. Maybe when he's older he'll go by a shortened version of his name or his initials, AJ.

@Running Elley: Thank you! I had a hard time deciding how to spell "Ellie" after seeing your name on here and thinking that "Elley" was so pretty (but the hubs won that one). And I had though I wanted to call her "Lora" for short but that one just never worked.

@lindseykaye: I love the way that you spell Ellie! My full name is Danielle and I call my husband Joshy. He didn't like Dany so he used the last part of my name instead=Elley

LO is a Jr. and we always referred to him as Junior while I was pregnant. I get yelled at ALL. THE. TIME. for calling him Junior (by my grandmothers, random people who ask me his name, etc.) they seem to think Junior is a juvenile nickname and hate that I call him that. He was 4lbs, 4oz at birth and Junior fit better than I ever could've imagined (we also called him Junior burrito when he was swaddled). So I usually call him baby, little man, or Junior. Eventually, we'll bestow upon him a shortened version of his name as a nickname, but for now, he's Junior.

@mrsjyw: That's my thought. He has the option to go by a different name. But other people call him by the shortened version of his name. I understand his name is a mouthful, but I think I want him to be called by his full name. If he wants to be called something else when he's older, that's ok then.

We are dead set on the name for our daughter wayyyy before we found out we were having a girl. I picked out what I thought would be her nickname, but my one friend is using the nickname already and I'm not sure I like it now (the nickname that is)
We may just end up using her full name or a different nickname altogether.

@sarac: Thats an adorable name!
We use a nickname all the time. Our LO is Katherine and she goes by Katie.

I call R by her full first and middle names but I also will call her the nn for both. Example being if she was named Elizabeth Louisa the nn for both could be Ellie Lou.
