I fly coach... I can usually fall asleep so it doesn't really matter to me. I think I've only flown first class once in my life, when I got a free upgrade. It was glorious but I don't want to do it again because I could easily get used to flying like that! Plus ticket costs start to add up once you have kids...

Coach. That's all work allows. I've gotten upgraded from SF to Hawaii and London to Frankfurt. I usually use all my miles for trips, but I guess I could use it for upgrades.

Coach. I had a few first class experiences but those were surprise free upgrades-- not worth the actual cash out of my pocket.

Coach. For a while I had elite status on United, but it was the lowest level, so I never got any upgrades out of it. I don't sleep at all when I'm crammed into a coach airplane seat, so it really sucks.

Mostly coach. We flew first class to Hawaii and it was marvelous! We flew on Alaska using a $99 companion ticket for my husband. It wasn't very much more to make my ticket (and therefore his as well) in first considering we got free checked luggage, access to the airport lounges (that had free food/drinks), etc. I've also flown in first a few times as a result of the airlines screwing up my flights a few times.

For personal, always coach. For work (frequent international), is always business or higher, but that's due to company policy.

Coach for the most part. Internationally I'd say I've flown maybe 50% of those trips first class for various reasons (I didn't pay for them). I did pay once for first class because we were stranded in a snowstorm and it was the only flight out and the only seat--at the time it was worth the money.

Normally coach, but I flew business class internationally this year and IT WAS AMAZING! I don't know if I can ever go back.... sob.
Not only was the seat wider and had tons of legroom, there is lounge access with food, food on the plane and you get to cut almost all the lines!
Look at all that leg room... sigh.

We fly coach. I've only flew business class several times when we relocated overseas.

For personal, domestic travel, it's always Southwest, which is all coach. I always pick coach for personal travel, it's just so ridiculously expensive otherwise. For work, it's business or first. I am spoiled from flying to Europe first class. That was amazing! When I go back for vacation it's just not going to be the same travel experience!

Coach, we can't (or won't) afford anything else. I'd rather spend the money on something else. I've never had work pay for more than coach either.

Coach - like others, I can sleep anywhere so it's not a big deal. I did get a free upgrade to business class on a Chicago to London flight a few years ago and it was heavenly! Other than that, just several free upgrades to economy plus, which is always appreciated. If I'm paying though, it's always standard coach class.

Coach! But when I was a kid, my dad travelled a lot so had a ton of points, so we got upgraded to business class a lot. I miss it! It was so nice.

Dh travels a lot and has tons of miles that we use.
If we're flying less than 2 hours we'll fly coach though.

@BoogieBea: definitely look into first if it's Alaska and its a crazy long flight. Our MD to HI flight had 3 legs each way. We were there for Christmas, so it was pricey. Other airlines were charging $900 for coach. Alaska was $1100 for coach or $1300 for first. We used the $99 companion ticket so it came out to $700 each for first. Like I said, we saved $50 each on luggage check fees, saved on meals, movie player rental, drinks, etc. So in the end it didn't cost that much more but made our journey fun vs. just plain loooong.
Also, on Continental and Alaska, sometimes the standard award tickets are not available and the first class ones are the same price (in miles) as the flexible coach award flight. So it's always worth checking.

Before I got married I used to always fly first class. My dad traveled every other week for work and had racked up a LOT of miles so we used those. I wouldn't pay cash for first class seat. Now we only fly coach. Sigh.

Pretty much always cash. Sometimes we get wild and go coach plus or whatever various airlines call it for extra leg room/express lineups, but have never flown first class.

Coach! None of my flights are long enough to justify business or first class. I can stick it out for 2.5h in coach!
When we went overseas, we flew first class. It is a 14h flight, so, I needed to be comfortable. On the way home, our first class seats had somehow booked out? So, they refunded us our money and put us in coach. OMG, was that hell.....
