We have been really good (surprisingly) about keeping the TV off when she is around. Football season is coming up, though so I'm not sure what we're going to do on rainy Sunday's when all Mom wants to do is watch football.

@babyjmama: We don't watch TV with LO around, but I think this will change with football season coming up.

We have a computer connected to our tv so that we don't have to pay for cable (yes!) and I often play Pandora during the day. After a while the screen saver comes on, and I notice that LL tends to get distracted by it. Do you think this is the same as having the TV on? What about music without a picture (I try to turn the picture off when I notice he is distracted). What about talk radio (I listen to Dave Ramsey some too.) I have always wondered this. What is it about TV exactly that we are supposed to avoid?

We're TV people too, so it's on a lot in our house. She is rarely paying any attention to it and we stick to non "adult" shows but don't watch "kids" shows exactly. If we're hanging out at home on the weekend I will turn on a Disney movie from Netflix, but it's all really for background noise as she crawls all over the house and we play.
I would like to get better about this now before she starts noticing it but old habits die hard.

Well the TV is usually on, but when she's awake none of us pay attention to it we are usually playing on the floor with her. I don't think she ever notices that it is on or tries to watch it, she's much to busy for that!

@oliviaoblivia: "I really want to limit her exposure to the kardashian's" hahaha
I use to have talk shows on as background noise but I don't anymore. DH watches football in front of them and sometimes I watch the news. Most of my shows are DVR'd/watched after they go to bed.
