One of our parenting friends had their parents move an hour or so away. We don't see our friends as often now, since they have more family commitments - but when we do, they seem much more relaxed!
Another set of parenting friends ended up moving across the country to be closer to their own parents... and they seem so much happier too!

Relatively close (within 1.5 hr drives), but most don't really get much help with childcare from parents.

1/2 and 1/2. I'm in the camp that doesn't, and there are definitely some things the other group doesn't get. One thing I have learned is just because you have family close by doesn't mean that they are helpful.

We all do! All my "parent" friends are actually just friends from high school & we all grew up around here. Many of our parents own small businesses & are prominent members of our small community. The few that don't have their families close by or just don't have helpful families are close enough with everyone else's family that their kids have been "adopted" in & everybody's parents help out. It's nice.

All of ours have grandparents nearby. Its a wonderful thing for us to have family so close by.

The friends where I live, no. My friends back home, yes, all of them do.
