We love LO's doctor. He's currently not accepting new patients but I'm due in October with LO2. How does this situation work? Are there exceptions for siblings? Or will we have to pick one of the other doctors? They're all great, I'm just curious. I'll obviously ask when we go for LO's next appointment, I was just curious.

@BelugaBean: Did you ask if newborns are included? Our pediatrician wasn't accepting new patients when LO was born with the exception of newborns.

I think some doctors make exceptions for syblings I would definitely ask.

This happened to us for LO 2. We saw another Dr for a couple of appointments before LO 1's Dr had availability. We were put on a wait list and a secretary called us when we could switch.

Our doctor made an exception for siblings, I asked since I knew a friend tried to get her and was told she wasn't accepting new patience, but they said "technically your baby isn't a new family so she will accept her."

This has happened to DH and I. I was an established patient, but by the time DH went to my practice, the doctor was no longer seeing new patients. However, this is interesting in regards to babies/siblings. Hopefully, they'll make an exception for newborns!

Usually I assume this applies to new "families", not new individuals in the same family.

I would call. It might just be new families, not new family members to existing patients.
