I LOOOOVE my mom's cooking. My favorite meal that she used to make is her Glazed Soy Sauce Chicken Legs with Potatoes. My brother and I used to fight over those darn chicken legs!
Do/did you enjoy your mom's cooking? What was your favorite meal?

My mom was more of a cook of convience, but when she took the time to make a meal it was good. I still can't make pot roast like her's no matter what I try!

Nope! My mom was not a great cook. We ate more fast food than I'd like to admit growing up. Her go-to meal was baked chicken with rice, and it was the most bland thing ever.
Now, my DAD, man, he can cook. His Caesar salad + prime rib dinner is the best thing ever. Yummmmm

I love my Mom's cooking! Pork and pineapple and cabbage rolls are two of my favourite meals she makes.

There are a handful of things she does well. But the way she uses oils and fats turns me off from the majority of her food. Example She will make bacon then use the same pan for eggs without cleaning the bacon grease.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I thought bacon fat was good for you? I don't know! I thought it was a form of healthy animal fat? I probably sound dumb for saying that. haha.

@grizz: OMG my grandma was the worst cook ever. She grew up with maids and they did all of the cooking in her house growing up so she never learned to cook. She can't even make rice. In the rice cooker!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: oh man lol this is how I make eggs! It makes them soooooo good. Bacon fat makes everything better in my book! Then again, we're from the south

@banana: Oh no! I want to learn all my mom and grandma's recipes so they don't get lost someday.

I didn't realize until I was in college that my family was not the norm-- my mom's specialty was Hamburger Helper. My dad on the other hand was a great cook!

@Cole: Haha same! I had no idea my mom was that bad of a cook until I left home. I thought everybody had the same meals every week and ate McDs all the time....

Yes, she makes a mean pasta sauce. But my Dad actually cooks more than her and his meals are fantastic.

My mom didn't cook when I was growing up. At all. My dad made 95% of our meals until I was old enough to take over some of the cooking, otherwise we went out or got takeout. In recent years, my mom has started learning to cook and has made some yummy things, but she's still not very confident in the kitchen and follows recipes exactly as written...so she doesn't really have a signature dish. I do get nostalgic for my dad's stir fry, among other things! I can never get the sauce quite right.

My mom didn't cook either. Her "go to meal" was frozen fish sticks and kraft mac n cheese XD
My dad cooked some, but we mostly ate with my grandparents. THAT was good food!

When I was little I didn't like a lot of what she made, but I blame that more on being picky than her being a bad cook. Now I like what she makes!

OMG yes! Her tomato sauce is the best! She's an awesome cook! She's taught me so much.

Yup. Simple, home-cooked meals for the most part. As she started working more, my Dad slowly took over. He started out with a lot of ready-made freezer type meals, but he's really grown and loves cooking now! I love going home and having meals they've both helped prepare!
...can't beat my grandmothers' though. I learned so much more from them.

Yup I love my mom's cooking :). When they come to stay after the baby's here, my mom told me to make a list of whatever I want that she makes and she'll cook it for me :D. After dealing with GD since May, I am PSYCHED. Oh, and she's making a full Thanksgiving dinner too. I can't wait for stuffing and rolls and cranberry sauce and pie and every carb on the planet.

My mom wasn't really a good cook...she made the same staples over and over and it was mostly dry meat with bland sides and boiled veggies. It kind of seemed like everything was the wrong texture? Meat was tough and dry. Veggies were boiled to mush. She once made scallops and it was literally like chewing rubber. I also remember eating quite a bit of frozen pizza, frozen chicken nuggets, and frozen fish sticks.
I think she's gotten better over time, though, I usually enjoy whatever she makes now.

Both my parents are awesome cooks. My dad's parents owned a restaurant (American lunch/burger joint) and were friends with Korean restaurant owners and my dad helped out in their kitchen, and they taught him some Korean recipes. He now cooks all sorts of stuff, even makes his own sushi!
My mom did most of the cooking growing up since she was a SAHM and my favorite dishes are her spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, sausage gravy and fried wontons.
My favorite dad dishes are General Tso's chicken, kimchi, sushi, BBQ chicken and ribs.

Her food isn't bad...but it's not like gourmet. We had lots of 'boxed' and 'canned' good growing up. And pretty straight forward meals.

@banana: @luckypenny: lol, I like my eggs dry. A little cooking spray and that's it. I will admit to skimming off some of the crispied fat when I microwave bacon using the Makin' Bacon dish.
