So far, LO is on the early end of average for most milestones, and I still worry all the time. I think it's natural to do so. FWIW, we didn't do a ton of tummy time, and LO loved to be sitting up like H. She was way to busy to waste time in her tummy :). She started rolling at 4.5 months like it was no big deal. And she's been on the move ever since...

I don't really. Before the Internet people never could really know what was "normal" or not, outside of friends, family or books and we're all ok :). Babies all develop at different rates and have different developmental strengths. It all works out in the end.

Yup I worry but what helps me is to think about how much babies vary in doing things. Like some babies crawl super early at 6 months while others crawl at ten months.

P hated tummy time and rolled around 4 months nbut didn't roll consistently until 5.5 months. why would he do it if he hates it ya know?

Eh, sometimes I do, but mostly I don't. I do like to see what H is up to though, since A is the exact same age.

Just curious, have you tried propping her on her arms when you start tummy time? We had some success when I would do that (when she used to hate it). She isn't rolling yet, though.

I worry all.the.time!! My LO's head size is quite large and it makes me anxious to think that all of her developments milestones will be delayed because they all involve her holding up her head!! She's three months tomorrow and doing well with tummy time/holding her head up/rolling over though, so I'm trying not to stress too much.

@sera_87: Same here. E has hit physical milestones left and right but very, very little babbling.

@yerpie110: my LO is in the 99th percentile for head circumference and also has a long torso, and I do think it made it a little harder to do certain things like crawling and (especially) sitting unassisted, because it was harder for him to balance - but he eventually figured it all out and is crawling, sitting, and pulling up like a pro at a little over 8 months.

@yerpie110: not all your LO's milestones might be delayed because of a big head - my LO is 92% for head circumstance, but she sat up unassisted right on the 5 month mark (at 4.5 month for a few seconds and wobbly, but was totally good to go at 5 months). So, they don't let those big heads slow them down

DD was slightly more delayed than average on the physical milestones, but I never worried too much because I could tell from an early age that she had a very cautious and careful personality. She was always very sharp mentally though. I think if it were the opposite way around - and she wasn't as quick-minded as she is, I would've worried.

Mums of boys, don't stress about the late talking/ babbling. dd babbles more than DS ever did, at 7 months she says dadda, Mumma and bubba. DS didn't speak well ant truly until after 1, and now at 2.7 years he is an amazing talker! I just think its a boy thing sometimes

C didnt roll over for the first time until she was 5.5-6 months old. I FREAKED out that she was delayed, etc. Our ped told me that a lot of the time when a baby is advanced in one area (she was in speech/communication) that they can lag in another. C hated tummy time with a passion, so I'm sure this was why. I didn't push it because I didn't see the point in forcing her only to have to listen to a tantrum.

In the end, she was sitting unassisted by 5 months, rolling by 6, crawling by 8 and pulling up and cruising by 9. She's 12 months and not walking yet, but I'm not worried this time. She's still well within the normal range.

@katsupgirl: @sera_87: @FutureMrsMcK: i'm obsessed with my LOs babbling (or lack of!) he is vocal but doesn't do dadadad or bababa just squeals and and makes throaty noises. i honestly think babies can't work on all their skills at once. so if they're working on physical milestones their babbling might come later.

yep I always worry even though he is typically a little ahead in the milestones. I just can't help it! I was obsessed with the babbling because I didn't think he was doing it enough. The pedi said that a ot of boys at his age just do a lot of screaming (check!) and now two weeks later he is babbling up a storm - go figure.

@iheartleopardprint: i agree with the boys seem to talk later! DS is 11 months and babbles, but says no words, which i was worried about a little bit. but then i thought about it both of my nephews didn't talk until they were over 1 and now both don't shut up! and my niece is a chatterbox and has been for the longest time!

DS just seems to be more interested in the physical milestones, just like his older boy cousins :o)

My baby is the same age as @rawrsaur and @princessbaby with an 83% head. He still hates tummy time, barely lifts his head, but its getting a little better day by day. I was stressing for a while, but now not so much. I can see a little improvement plus he sits up assisted, and jumps etc.

I'm very interested in baby milestones, but I never stressed about it. My girl was a very early talker and a very late walker. 16 months, late. But she was also making three word sentences at that point, so it was clear she just had a brain that cared more about speech for whatever reason. I knew that she had until 17 months before it was an issue, and she kept making progress towards walking. So I never worried.

@jmarionsmith: I definitely agree. I'm not stressed about it, I'm just eager for it (I'm sure I'll be eating my words when he's chattering non-stop, lol!). Like @sera_87: E really has hit the physical stuff out of the park, so we just assume he's concentrating more on those.

I stressed up about crawling. I feel like every LO has a different time table, and as long as you are doing tummy time that is what is important. Have you tried doing tummy time in "airplane" style, with your LO on your legs, that way she can see you?
