DD will repeat the same word or phrase over and over until I repeat it back to her. For instance, if we are driving and see a cactus she says "cactus! Cactus! Cactus!" until I say "yes there's cactus over there". I love her talking but it can get a bit annoying to repeat everything back

@BeachMama: ummm YES! LO went through this phase and it felt like such a long phase! She's 2.5 now and doesn't do it anymore but I remember when she did. It's like they just want to be acknowledged that they are being heard.

Oh yeah. When he sees a fan or an interesting light, he won't stop saying those words until we acknowledge!

@Sandy - yes, I think it's definitely that she wants to know she's been heard. She goes from one thing "cactus, cactus, cactus!" to the next "purple flower, purple flower, purple flower!" Its cute to see her excited over little things but also gets old to talk about the cactus every time we drive down the street!

Yes!! She won't give up until you say it back. I can't even just say "oh yes, that's right" when she says something i don't understand. I have to say the word.
I still think it's cute since she's my daughter, but i worry that others will it annoying when she does it to them.

Ha @freckles - DD is the same. If I don't understand her sometimes ill just say "oh ok" but she doesn't buy it. She keeps repeating herself until I understand or she gets upset.

Yes, it's even harder when I don't know what she's saying. Some words aren't clear yet and she gets mad if I say the wrong word!
