Mine did not. They don't really mean anything - you can be a zero, and give birth 6 hours later, or you can hang around at a 3 for weeks. Even if my practice did them, I would've declined. More checks = higher risk of infection.

My practice did them although it may have been more to please the patients. I'm sure they would have not done them if the patient requested since there was a midwife on staff, too! They always had one of the two OBs on call so I doubt it was really necessary.

And for the record, I was induced pretty tightly closed up but had a fast labor anyway so I doubt it matters!

Mine asks if you want them starting at 36 weeks. Then at 39 my OB requested to do one and I let her. Honestly, I wish that I had declined because I found it very discouraging because I wasn't dilated at all and she was already talking about c sections and inductions. Well I actually went into labor 4 days later... Next pregnancy I will decline for sure.

The practice I saw with LO did them if requested. They were pretty nonchalant about it. That check hurt like a mother, and I'll never have one ever again. I don't know if my current midwife practice does them, but I plan on declining if they suggest it.

My ob did, but I totally see how pointless/not a predictor they are.

I voted other because while my doctor would do them, they absolutely wouldn't do them until baby was full term, and also stressed that it really didn't mean anything - they could tell me I was 2cm and I could stay like that for weeks, or they could tell me there's no progress and my baby could be born tomorrow. So yeah, my midwives definitely weren't a fan. I insisted, and it was totally painful - won't be requesting it next time!

Not until 40 weeks. They aren't fun.

Im not sure about my OB birth, I had DD1 before my 37 week appointment so we never had the discussion.

With DD2 we discussed it at my 39 week appointment more to do a stretch and sweep but I was an emotional wreck (so over being pregnant!) And she didn't want to add to my stress. She later told me she thought I was seconds from going into labour anyway so there was no point. I had the baby like 14 hours after that appointment!

Mine never did.

My MW only does them if requested.

This is slightly off topic, sorry, but I'm 25 weeks and I was having a ton if BH contractions at regular intervals. So, they did a cervical check to make sure I wasn't dilating. (Luckily I wasn't) Everyone is saying the checks are painful, but it wasn't painful at all or really that uncomfortable to me. Does it get more painful the further along you are or am I just lucky that it wasn't painful to me?

My OB office started them at 36 weeks. I wasn't crazy about them, but I had decided from the very beginning of my pregnancy that I was gonna go with the flow.

Mine did not. I saw a midwife so that might be why.

Our midwives didn't check until I was in labour. She said the number didn't have any real implication on when labour was going to start.

My practice does them but I never had one before I was induced bc I hadn't had any contractions. Lo was born at 37 weeks so maybe they would have started them if I were pregnant longer?

My OB didn't suggest a check til I was full term, and I declined until I was several days overdue. There wasn't a reason to do it until we had to assess my candidacy for induction. I successfully stalled scheduling an induction until my water broke naturally at 10pm nine days after my due date. Labor started four hours later, and my son was born at 1am eleven days after he was due.

But, I felt very (probably irrationally) strongly about avoiding an induction, and I switched doctors during my pregnancy because I wanted one who would be supportive of my birth plan.

My OB does NOT do membrane sweeps because she says they don't do anything, and they're uncomfortable.
