E has had a dry, wheezy cough now for over a month. She has been a sorry state. Long story short, today, the doctor said that she appears to have asthma. He prescribed Salbutomol medicine (three times a day) and told us to come back in ten days - if she isn't better, he is going to prescribe an inhaler.

I'm pretty confused and worried. E is only 8 months old - I thought that you couldn't diagnose asthma that early? But the wheeze is unmistakable and it does run in the family - I have mild asthma, my dad was asthmatic and then his dad actually died from an asthma attack (see why I'm so scared?).

Does anyone else's LO suffer from this? When was he/she diagnosed? Is there anything else I can do to help her?? I feel so sorry for her, coughing and crying all night (and not to mention DH and I really, really need some sleep!).
