I can't stand to hear him cry.
as he's gotten older, I'm a little more immune to it.

I have a hard time ignoring my LO's cries because they are piercing and super loud. Have to admit that when we sleep trained I used ear plugs so I didn't have to physically leave when he cried. It does break my heart to him him bawl... but I've gotten better with it now that he is almost 2. Thankfully he doesn't cry as often as when he was a lil one

Completely depends on the cry. If it's just an "I want to see if you'll come back into the bedroom" cry or a "I'm really tired and fighting sleep in the most pathetic sounding way" cry I can (mostly) ignore it. Anything else bothers me. The hysterical cries make my chest hurt and make me feel panicky.

The cries themselves don't bother me as much as I worry about them bothering others.

They make me ache. I have a hard time understanding how anyone can stand to hear their children cry.

If it's her sad or scared or really upset cry it kills me. Her pain is my pain at the moment.

I am so good at ignoring (and sleeping through it) that often my husband has to point it out!

Sometimes. He has a funny cry, hard to tell if he's laughing or crying!

I think it's a real biological thing for a newborn babies cry to bother a mother.

It kills me. I didn't let my lo cry at all w/o picking her up or tending to her until just recently. As a newborn? OMG. The moment she made a peep, she was in my arms.
How old is J now, @chopsuey119?

Completely stresses me out. Thankfully she is pretty mellow and doesn't cry to much. DS on the other hand is SO whiny right now and that is super annoying. I feel like his terrible 2's have stretched into terrible 4's.

It breaks my heart. Like @MediaGirl, if BabyGloss makes a peep, I swoop in to pick her up. As of late, the video monitor is helping me to not do quite so much swooping.
