holy cow, this was so much easier with one kid. I didn't know what I had when I had it!!
we've been trying to leave for an hour. so far, we've had a newborn that won't nap unless I'm holding her (so, getting ready one handed), a toddler who decided today is shrieking/slamming doors in my face day, a blow out, a tightly wadded scrap of tissue paper stuffed up a nostril, strawberry pop-tart everywhere, and a barking dog.
I just want a coffee!

It is ok now and I am still on time but I remember being frazzled when LO 2 was a little baby. She always puked before we left!

I feel that way sometimes with just 1, after screaming fits around getting dressed, putting on shoes, getting in the stroller, etc. You definitely deserve a drink!

@hilsy85: I can't remember the last time I had a drink - I think my birthday last April before I got pregnant. I may stop at the liquor store today. think they'll judge with a 2 year old and newborn in tow? hahaha

Yes.
I'm never on time anymore and I always look like I ran a marathon before I arrived because I am sweaty and my hair is messed up and who knows if I'm wearing real pants. I have to start getting them/their stuff ready an hour before we leave (assuming they are napping. If they are awake I might as well cancel our plans because I can maybe get there tomorrow). Just thinking about it makes me want a drink! Sometimes when we go to workout, getting them dressed, changed and out the door is the real workout.

@sorrycharlie: yupp except we have to be on time to make it to daycare on time. My toddler currently has the tendency to poop right before we leave the door. So all cloths back off and back on...
Haha, Life has definitely gotten more complicated but I'd not change anything! Love my little rascals

It's gotten better but this morning it did. Between lost shoes, spilled drinks on outfit, and realizing after we're running late that the car seats were in separate cars I let out a wtf under my breath. Hopefully Los didn't hear it, but some days it feels like somepnes throwing obstacles at you while you try to get out the door.

@twodoghouse: I'm so sorry, but I just bust out laughing. I always look like such a hot mess when I go anywhere, because inevitably she has spit or puked or spilled something on me. And if we are running late, which is always, that guarantees that the dog will also have to go out right before we leave, which is a treat in an apartment building in Buffalo in the middle of winter. If we leave the house and no one is crying (her or me), it is an automatic win.

Yes!!! Having one seems so easy now. My problem is the baby only wants to be held so I'm doing everything with a 25 pound baby on my hip. Ugh, I feel so winded when I finally get them in the car. I always think how do other mom do it so effortlessly? And how do they still manage to look put together?

It's definitely tough some days.
We had a dinner party with the inlaws last night and leaving FILs house was so painful.
It was after bedtime. DH had to park kinda far away so he went to get the car, I bundled up both girls, #1 pooped, then #2 got hangry, so I unbundled us all, nursed her, re bundled, then got us all in the elevator where #1 pushed the emergency call button ....it was awful.
And then somedays they're both with the program and cooperative. WIsh I knew how to have those days all the time.

Ugh, yes. We're a year into trying to get out of the house with two and I have finally come to the realisation that I need to start getting us ready 30-40 minutes before the time we need to be out the door. Between getting everything we need in the nappy bag, bundling up with coats, shoes, hats, etc, switching over prams to/from the car (we don't have a garage but have three prams so always store one in the storeroom, one in our shed, and one in my car - inevitably, the one I need will not be in the car), making sure everyone is fed and clean bottomed, etc.....yeah, it's a mission and a half. DH gets so grumpy on the weekends when it takes longer than 10 minutes to get out the door and I sometimes want to throw something at him and tell him to try doing it on his own!

@Ree723: My husband is the same way sometimes! He'll be grumpy by the time we are in the car. It's not like we are taking our time because we want to. Getting two LOs out the door is hard.

It is a pain in the winter. All the clothes! The warm months are a lot easier. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of those.

An hour is about right. It still takes us that at ages 1 and 3. And yes, a drink always sounds good by 30-40 minutes.

Omg YES. Especially when they baby is still pretty young you FINALLY get it all together and ready to leave but the baby needs to eat real quick again and then toddler destroys EVERYTHING again. Never ending cycle...

Yes, but now that the littlest is 12 months (oldest will be 3 in 2 months), it's SO much easier. It gets better--hang in there.

YES!!! I can't believe I thought it was so hard with just one kid. It takes me TWO hours to get us all ready and out the door in the morning when I'm by myself with them during the week. And it just feels so daunting some days, I don't even want to leave the house. But we all feel better on the days we go out.
It's way easier to go out on the weekends when DH is home to help.
You will find your groove and routine to get everyone out of the house. It has gotten easier now that DD is a little older and her feedings have spread out a little.

When A was first born, it dreaded going out alone with them. It was so stressful, especially since G was only 15 months old, he couldn't do anything to help. It gets easier!

YES. The early days are the hardest with coordinating naps, feedings, unexpected blow outs and spit up! But we're out of that stage now...and it's getting easier. Once you get into a rhythm, it helps too.

Daily. Despite my best efforts we are often running behind. LO1 picks the worst times to "not know how to _____ (pee, get shoes on, etc) by myself" and LO2 is either pooping his pants, puking, or both.
