We have been testing out the monitors and dang, they're annoying! Clicking, ticking, white noise. Ugh. Does anyone else have this problem?

Ours has horrible white noise. I am used to it know, but it really bugged me in the beginning. It also beeps randomly.... not sure what that is about!

I only hear the white noise in my LO's room if I have the volume up. I have a Phillips AVENT DECT monitor.

@Rosie Girl: Mine beeps randomly, too.
The only noise I hear through mine is the noise from the a/c in our bedroom!

my nanny-LOs have both summer video (flat screen thing) which makes a ton of annoying noise, and then a sony baby call which does once in awhile but not really too much.
we just got our motorola in the mail yesterday and set it up, and it doesn't make any!

@sorrycharlie: for a sound only, I love the Sony baby call one! The noise activated feature was awesome! You only heard the monitor if the was something to hear, no white noise. I used to keep it next to the sink doing dishes & loved that if it got splashed it was water resistant:) now at work I have a summer video one that makes noise, but it's a couple years old. It makes more noise if my cell phone is close to it

@mrs. bird: really? That's the one we have (with two receivers) and we're always hearing noises from it. It also beeps randomly. Maybe I need to change the setting?

@mediagirl: do you have it set to the noise activated setting? You shouldn't hear anything- almost like it's not on unless there is a sound to turn it on. The beeping might be that you are out of range or getting close to it. It could be the battery too. We had the rechargeable one and after a while we had to keep it plugged it because we killed the battery, but that took a couple years.

@mediagirl: I noticed the beeping if it was too close to the mom's laptop. sometimes I just had to move it around a bit on the counter for it to stop. you're talking about the baby call, right, not the summer video? they don't use it on the noise-activated setting, either, I just keep it kind of low so if she yells i hear her but i don't listen to all the babbles. (she's 19 months).
ETA - it's always been plugged in. so perhaps it is something with the battery? i've never tried to use it just battery

@mrs. bird: @sorrycharlie: found it! Awesome. Forgot it had that setting. I'll have to pay attention to when it starts beeping. Might be too close to my phone. Thank you!

We have the Summer Infant audio only, I don't really notice much noise out of it. It does pick up the air conditioner a little when it switches on, but it isn't very loud. It does have a blue blinking light when the baby makes noise, but I sleep just fine with it next to my head.
My husband and I were laughing a little when Cam woke up around 1am this morning, over the monitor he started babbling "mamma mam mammmama" he has no idea what it really means at 7 months, but my husband says he's calling me

Our old one used to, it was used. Eventually it broke after a few months, so DH got a Safety 1st, and that was just as bad! We returned it and got a $60 Graco and really liked it. No noise whatsoever.
