Yes our daycare requires our kids to be vaccinated. They have a yearly visit from the Dept of Health and if kids are not up to date on vaccines they are not allowed to come until they are up to date.

Yes, same as pp--when they get checked in at the computer, it updates reminding you for vax updates. No exemptions--kids must be updated on shot records.

Yes, they require that kids are 100% vaccinated, on schedule. (I assume there are waivers for kids with medical issues who can't get vaccines, but I don't believe there are the public school type opt-outs for other reasons). You have to submit their vax records twice a year, if you don't, they remind you and warn you if you don't turn it in, your child won't be allowed to attend.

Yes. Only exemptions allowed state-wide are medical exemptions (in daycare--there are more exemptions in public school). It was very important to me in choosing a preschool.

I think that many people incorrectly assume that their daycare or school require vaccinations simply because they were told they had to bring in their kids vaccine history. Unfortunately, at most day cares and pretty much all schools, all the parent has to do is say that they're not vaccinating for personal/health reasons, sign a form, and they're done. Personally, I wish it wasn't quite that simple, particularly for those not doing it for health reasons, but not much that can be done about it.

I think this is something that varies by state...from what I remember (my son isn't in a daycare any more), in order to maintain their state licensing, our daycare had to require a proof of a medical examination once a year and updated vaccine record.

Yes. I asked when we toured and said even though the state allows exemptions, they will not take children who aren't vaccinated. Every few months when dd is due for vaccines I get a letter from them asking for her updated vaccination record that tells me exactly which ones she needs.

Yes, he has to be up to date on his vaccinations to attend. I had to bring in his record from the doctor before he could start.

In PA, they actually can't bar you from daycare if you're not vaccinated. They may *say* that's their policy, but they're opening themselves up for a lawsuit if they do. They are required to have the well-check visits on file for DHS (and you must get those on schedule or have them scheduled) but since PA allows personal and religious exemptions, it doesn't matter.

Yup. We had to provide his vaccine history form from the doctor, then had to update it before Jan to include the flu shot this year.

If they don't have them up to date, they aren't allowed in the school.

@Mamaof2: I think it depends if they participate in certain state programs too. (Keystone STARS for example...) If they're getting state money there are stricter rules and regs. I know public programs (like HeadStart) have to allow the same exemptions at the state level. Our last DCP told us that they couldn't/wouldn't exempt unvaccinated kids due to lawsuit worries.

But... if kids enroll wo vaccines due to medical exemptions, there's no way barring them entry is legal, and I'm 99% sure that telling other parents about other kids' status would be a HIPAA violation. (They can't even tell you who in the room has allergies, for example.)

TBH, i've never asked about the policies b/c we vaccinate. But L's never been 'on schedule' since a scheduling issue when he was 2 months old. We've always been a couple of months behind and our provider doesn't have an issue with it.
