At her 2 month appt, LO got a combo vaccine (pentacel) instead of 3 separate shots for a single vaccine. She is getting her 4 month shots tomorrow, and they will probably do the same thing again. At first I thought it was great because less pokes for my little baby! But then I saw this combo was only approved in 2008, so not a long time on the market, and not sure of the side effects....
Do your LOs get the combo vaccines or single vaccines?

My LO is getting combos which is nice because it's less sticks. I figure they've been on the market long enough that I shouldn't have to worry.

Our pedi doesn't stock the combos because so many parents request to delay or separate vaccines. Of course, since we stick to the standard schedule, that means up to 5 sticks at one visit :(.

We won't be doing any combos whatsoever, or multiple vaccines in a single day. Any and all vaccines we give will be split up.

We got the combo and then 2 other separate shots. Thank goodness for the combo, because it broke my heart to her scream in pain!

We got two combos and an oral rotovirus at his 2mo appt and he was a mess.
After that single vaccines and only two per visit.
I also opted to seperate the rotovirus bc LO seemed to have some GI issues with that one when given with other vaccines.
Yes, more work to go back and forth to the DR but I know we made the right decision for our LO.
I just wish there weren't so many vaccines....

He's got one combo (3-in-one) and two singles (though I think one of those is a drink?) coming up next week for his 2-month shots. I'd rather him be in some minor, temporary discomfort than have a world without vaccines.

No combos here. I also avoid having them given to him all on the same visit, so a delayed schedule.

@Arden: may I ask why no combo vaccines? just curious...we have been trying to just do 1 poke per visit, which means a shot each month instead of every 2 months. originally i liked the idea of the combo vaccine because it means less pokes, trying to plan out our vaccination schedule now.

at her two months, she got four sticks and one oral. we specifically asked for combo but they said they don't do combos until they are older. not sure why though.

We were told at her first visit that it would be a combo, but the day of she got 5 sticks and an oral, so I'm thinking that she didn't end up receiving the combo for whatever reason.

@NovBaby1112: the combo shots have a much higher amount of aluminum in them therefore I chose to to separate the shots and follow a delayed schedule.
