Yes, they have Japanese first names! They still need Chinese names...

No. I actually have a Chinese character name I don't use. But DD does not, but her name is as auspicious as I could make it, if that counts

@autumnlove: good point, I guess LOs first name is culturall/ethnic because I chose it for it's Gaelic origin.

LO has a chinese named tied to his middle name... so he has kind of a long middle name b/c it has an american middle name along with his chinese middle.. but we wanted to make his chinese name "offical".

DH is Colombian, so we picked a name that works well in both languages.

Both my kids have Korean names. Their legal names are different, but we call them by their Korean names 80% of the time.

My daughter's first name is Latin/Hispanic and my son's middle name is... But they both go by their more Anglo names.

DD has an unofficial Chinese name. My parents are the only ones who use it, which is funny because my grandparents were the only ones who called me by my Chinese name.

Both the girl and boy names we picked out sound good in both English and DH's first language. It was very important to me to find names that work in both. Middle name will be my last name and they'll have DH's last name -- so I think it will be a nice blend.

Sort of. DS's name is excessively French, but they are also names that work just fine in English. It's funny, if an American pronounces his first and last name, it sounds like he should be of African American heritage. But if a French person pronounces his name, he sounds like a white boy.

Kinda. She has a hebrew name. So its more religious than ethnic I guess.

@lamariniere: ok, I am really curious because I don't consider black folks having legitimate, traditional, ethnic names.
Come hell or highwater my child will not have a made up or a name strongly associated with black folks.
