Nope, in SC it's either Medicaid or you're on your own.

But, we're moving to NC next year and they do have a good program there.

Just Medicaid and CHIP in my state (and frankly most states). NY, CA, Penn are anomalies!

MA has great ins options, even before the ACA. Everyone is required to carry health ins & if it's not offered through your job or you can't afford it, you bought through the state based on income or got it for free depending on income level.

Yes, California offers a program that I believe is designed for families who do not have access to insurance, and do not qualify for free Medi-cal. We don't use it, but it's good to know that there is an option available.
