Anyone else super excited about the new season starting on Jan 4 in the US?
I have been rewatching the series. I watched the episode where Sybil died yesterday, and cried so hard.
Have you looked up or been tempted to look up any spoilers online?

I am SO excited! Our dog is named Isis after Lord Grantham's dog!
I actually haven't been tempted to look at spoilers online because I don't want to ruin it for myself.

I've already watched it, minus the Christmas episode, as I'm in the UK and all I'll say is that this season is SO GOOD!!!! I thought last season was a bit of a yawn but they've definitely picked their game up again this season! I'm counting down the days until Christmas so I can watch the season finale (Christmas special)!

@Ree723: I'm glad you enjoyed the new season. I agree that season 4 was a little boring, but maybe they were just letting us recover some from the shockers in season 3.

I've found each season after season 1 a little less interesting than the previous BUT I'm still super excited!

I didn't watch any spoilers but I watched Secrets of Highclere today on Amazon. It is an hour episode about the real life castle and the countess and earl that lives there. There are a lot of parallels in the series. Can.not.wait!!!

@Miss Ariel: cool! Thanks. I thought it was 8 and I quickly turned on the tv. So glad it's at 9 and I didn't miss the beginning.

Yay!! So excited! Who's your favorite character? I love Lady Mary and her new suitors. I'm excited to see where her character goes this season.

The last episode screened here in New Zealand a few weeks ago, we have recorded them but haven't watched any yet!!
Its a show DH and I watch together I am so tempted to just start watching but will wait for him.

@JennyG: I am not sure who my favorite character is as I think all of them are great. I really like Violet (aka the Dowager Countess) and Mary. I think Tony is my favorite of Mary's suitors.

It is just about on!! I started to watch via cokeandpopcorn a few weeks ago it just wasn't the same. So I stopped it and ready to watch. I feel like I waited eons!!

What are your thoughts so far? I feel meh about Tony. I think he comes on a bit too strong and in real life that kind of guy bothers me. But I like the plot line with Mary so far. I don't like the teacher lady at all, which is interesting. I think she's too harsh even if her opinions are totally valid. And this plot line with Edith is a disaster waiting to happen....

@travellingbee: I agree with everything you are saying! I really dislike the teacher, ugh. But I get her storyline I guess. I was liking Tony until last nights episode and now I feel like something is going to go wrong. Edith. Omg. You can't help but feel bad for this girl, this whole idea is crazy. And weird. Was this an accepted thing at the time? The wife is not going to deal with it.
What's up with Cora and the dude with the paintings? Yikes.

I don’t like the teacher at all either! She was just plain rude at the dinner she was invited to.
I feel so badly for Edith. I get why she and the husband are not telling his wife the truth, but at the same time they are not doing anything to dissuade the wife from thinking that Edith is into her husband!
I really want to know Baxter’s full story – the reason she stole the jewelry. This season is so good; can’t wait for next Sunday!

The teacher bugs me too. I get her role in the story, but she just annoys me! I'm not rooting for her!
Edith Her storyline makes me sad and worry for the future plotline!
@yoursilverlining: I want to know too! It's driving me nuts why she's keeping it hidden!

I feel like this season is way better than last! DH stopped watching midway last season and I wish he would watch this one!
I don't like the teacher either!! I don't want her to steal Tom away she shouldn't be telling him who he is. The Crowleys are his family, whether or not he fits in 100%. She should accept him or move on and let him evolve without pressure.
I can't imagine what Edith would be going through. I mean, I get that the social forces would be unimaginably strong. But I would just want to pick up my kid and run! I mean, would her parents really disown her? Couldn't she just take the kid and deal with never getting married? I wish they would go more into who Edith is now. Her character was so mean early on and she seems like she has changed a lot.
Do y'all think Green was killed? I do, but I think not by Bates! It would be too repetitive of a plot. Although I always kind of thought he did kill his first wife...
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@jedeve: Yeah I think it wasn't actually him too. But I'm getting sick of that plot line with Bates and Thomas trying to get rid of him... It's getting old.
