@hellobeeboston: Yes, I could smell that flirtation from the first 15 seconds of screentime. DH didn't agree until it played out. Lord Grantham is about to lay down the law on her though.

    I love to hear everyone's comments...because that's what I'm thinking too!!!

*If you want to see more of Lord Grantham, he plays the father in the new movie Paddington Bear.

@jedeve: Why do you think Bates killed his first wife?

The show is begging for one of these faux facebook walls. Inspired by this thread...I created this just now!

I agree, this season is already really good! I am suspicious of Tony, he creeps me out for some reason. Also, the way Green was so aggressive and violent it makes me think something is up with Tony?

I also dislike the teacher! It's one thing to have a dissenting opinion, it's another to just be rude! I feel like Rose keeps pushing her to come over yet they really don't have a relationship.

I am getting sick of the Thomas/Bates drama. I hope something positive happens to Bates and Anna (a baby?!) because they had it so rough in the past!

Tony Gillingham - I liked him at first, but now I agree with Charles Blake's opinion of him. I think if Mary were to marry him she would become bored with him rather quickly.

Sarah Bunting - I like that Tom has started to make his own friends, but I am not a fan of Miss Bunting's. I think she needs to learn a better way to express her ideas.

Mr. Bates - I am very interested in how the story with Mr. Green will play out. I do think Mr. Bates had something to do with his death.

Does Cora's voice annoy anyone else?

    I miss Matthew & Mary.....

@travellingbee: I am so sick of the Bates murder plot line.

    @808love: Love it! Too funny!

@Veggiemama: I agree on both accounts. The teacher is super rude and it's weird how Rose is always trying to play matchmaker. She's not even that close with Tom. I am also ready for Anna and Bates to find some happiness...at Downton or elsewhere... preferably with some little ones! I feel like there is going to be drama though about that birth control she's hiding for Mary!

@NCSUchick27: I totally think he caused his death, but I'm so bored of that storyline!

@petunia354: Yes, it's always annoyed me. It's seems kinda face or over the top serene. Though it occurred to me watching this last episode that maybe her voice is jarring because it's the only one without a British accent?

Tony is no Matthew. I hope they find Mary a better love interest... I'm no longer very crazy about any of them.

@78h2o: Glad you appreciate it. It took 20 mins! That was actually the first time I ever played with the site. It is called Wall machine if anyone else wants to have a go and make some more Downton Facebook funnies. (Please do, Sunday is a long ways away!) It is very easy to navigate. Just click and edit. You can even upload pics straight from the web.

Bumping for the season finale tonight! Thoughts on the season so far?

I am not watching tonight but I'm caught up.

I'm glad the teacher left. I'm curious to see if the kitchen maid actually goes to London or not. But I do feel like she needs something of the next step for her character.

What will Mary do if she's left without rose and without Tom and it's just her and Edith?!?

What in the world charges did the arrest Ana on?

I totally agree! That teacher was obnoxious! Who goes into someone else's house to just pick fight?! Ugh. She bothered me.

I wish Daisy all the best. Watching the whole show from the beginning, it makes sense she wouldn't stay there forever. Her character has always wanted more.

I dont like Edith as a mother. I was totally rooting for her to get Marigold back, but now that she has the baby it is too much. I don't know, runs me the wrong way.

I'm so looking forward to nap tomorrow (that's when I watch it!)

@808love: bahaha the Facebook thing is so good! I love it.

I'm totally late to this thread but I love DA! Edith is the most annoying this season.

I actually had no intention of watching this season because I really disliked last season. This season is definitely an improvement. I am so sad about Isis, though. Kill Sybil and Matthew if you have to, but the dog?

I really liked the season finale.

    *Spoiler*

I thought Carson asking Ms. Hughes to marry him was really sweet.

@MamaBehr: I actually liked Edith a lot as a mother. Especially in comparison to Mary. I know Mary's parenting is what's typical for that class in that era, but it still kinda rubs me the wrong way at times. It was nice to see Edith so concerned and so obviously out of her element.

I'm really sad that Tom's leaving. I think he brings a lot to the show. I feel like it kind of leaves a hole in the family.

    @NCSUchick27: @ShootingStar: I agree.

So with Tom and Sybile leaving, did anyone catch that the year is 1924? The Great Depression will hit the US around 1929. Will Tom be affected? For some reason, I thought the depression was 1924 and I was waiting for news to drop and Tom and Sybile wouldn't go. But then I looked and the depression was later.

Oh, what about Atticus and Rose? How will they be affected by the Great Depression.

Though, I wonder if they will even get to 1929. The first season was set in 1912 and the second season was 1914-16. They were skipping a few years between seasons.

Ahh, I've been waiting for the season to finish in the US so I can stop worrying about spoilers!

@NCSUchick27: I was seriously still smiling the next day because I was so pleased about Carson and Mrs Hughes! Yes, it's just a tv show but that part of the storyline just warmed my heart!

I need to buy season 5 on DVD and watch it all over again, I love that show so much!

I’m so glad that Julian Fellows didn’t kill anyone off this finale! I am *so happy* with the Carson/Hughes match - - they have clearly loved each other for forever. I also really liked the intimate back stories we got – both Mrs. Hughes about her sister and the Dowager Countess about the Russian Princess “saving” her life.

    I can't wait for Season 6!

Is there a season 6? I thought it was the series finale.

@yoursilverlining: I agree, I like the background we got on a few of the characters.

@bluestriped bee: Good point! They haven't really said exactly what Tom and them will be doing in the US.

@ShootingStar: I agree Tom added a lot to the show, but I think maybe Mary will marry again and that will help fill the hole. Now that she maybe knows a bit more what she wants.

WTF is up with Edith and the publishing company? Why doesn't she go back and do some of that work?

@alphagam84: At the end of the finale, it said Season 6 would be coming January 2016! woo!

I enjoyed this season! I'm glad the teacher left. I couldn't stand her. I wish Daisy would leave Downton and take over the farm, but stay on the show. I'm glad that Edith was able to get Marigold. I loved the story line about the Dowager Countess and the prince. I'm intrigued about Mary's potential new suitor. Of course he likes fast cars.

I read that Maggie Smith won't return after season 6, even if the series continues. So we'll be saying goodbye to her next season, which will be sad.

Kate Middleton Will Be Visiting the Downton Abbey Set — This Is Not a Drill!

It’s rare in life that fantasies come true, so we are giving thanks and, frankly, just trying to process the news just out from Buckingham Palace that Kate Middleton and Lady Mary Crawley are about to become inseparable best friends—gabbing over tea, trying on fancy gloves for impromptu photo shoots, laughing hysterically over “Who’s on First?”-style jokes related to whether they’re talking about Mary’s baby George or Kate’s baby George. O.K., O.K., we are getting wildly ahead of ourselves. The Palace did not say, exactly, that Kate and Mary are about to become lifelong pals. But they did say that the Duchess of Cambridge will be visiting the set of Downton Abbey next week.

Kate will be visiting the set—which is becoming quite the celebrity hotspot, after George Clooney’s visit last year—next week, on Thursday, March 12. She will not be traveling to Highclere Castle, however, instead visiting the Ealing Studios West London set where the servants’ scenes are set. (It says a lot about our Middleton-mania that we bristled, at first, at the thought of Kate having to visit servant’s quarters, even with the full knowledge that they are fictional.) According to People, Kate will watch one take of a scene set among the servants, and then will head to the “video village,” where she will watch as the producers watch the scene played back.

We are actually going to need, like, hours to take all of this in, but for now, a few thoughts:

    1) Can you imagine filming a scene while Kate Middleton is watching you on set?!?!?! Like, even Cate Blanchett would forget her lines under that sort of pressure.

    2) Is this somehow a sign that Kate wants to get into filmmaking? This hope, this possibility, is going to be enough to sustain us through the rest of this miserable New York winter.

    3) Kate/Downton producers/whoever might be reading this, we brainstormed a whole bunch of Downton plot scenarios incorporating the royal family last year, which you are free to take and use, should Kate get the urge to get in front of the camera next Thursday.

@Leialou: I read that too but her publicist has come out saying that her words were spoken in jest and taken out of context. She has apparently committed to staying on the show for as long as it rubs. Whew, she makes the show for me!
