Has anyone given a pediatric enema to their child? My almost 4-yo son has been pooping in his undies for months telling us he "can't feel it" -- I finally took him to the doctor and it turns out he has a hard mass of poo in there. (And he had huuuuge poops the day before the doctor's visit.) The doctor recommends a 3-day course of enemas -- one pediatric enema each night.

Has anyone had experience with this? I understand the basics of it, but how messy is this truly going to be? Should we do this after his bath (so he's more relaxed) or before his bath (so we can clean him up afterwards)? The doctor said to lay towels on the couch and put on his favorite movie for the enema itself -- should we lay towels everywhere en route to the bathroom in case he doesn't get there in time for the actual pooping? The doctor said the first enema/poop might be painful because it's been in there so long -- is it also likely to take a long time? (I.e. should I start at 5pm instead of 6PM so we can get him to bed on time?)

So many logistics... thank you in advance if anyone has experience here; I hugely appreciate it.
