I don't know what's wrong with our mirrors at home.. but I get to work and catch my reflection sometimes and I am just amazed at how bad my outfit looks - ill fitting or doesn't match, can see bra through it, etc. Grrrr.

I'm 36w preggo and just threw on the only clothes that fit and were clean this morning, and didn't quite realize till I got in that my slightly pleated black skirt, white button down shirt, and gray cardigan make me look like some kind of "sexy schoolgirl" fantasy gone terribly and awkwardly wrong.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
All the time! But then I get home and look in the mirror again and realize I look fine. So I jut think my work mirrors are bad and the lighting sucks. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

I threw on my favorite polka-dot shirt yesterday with a black skirt and cardigan, only to realize when I got to work that my belly stretches the shirt out so much that you can see my skin through it. Yikes. Thankfully there was a bit of skirt at the top that I could pull up to conceal the worst of it.
Wardrobe problems abound at 37.5 weeks pregnant.

@evansjamie: @Lozza: hahaha. Today I'm wearing a combination of clothes that each look good on their own, but together it is entirely too tight (esp. for a 3 months pp mother) and add on my 4" platform heels and it's a total 'trying to look sexy but i'm not' type of look.
@SleepyMonkey: haha, maybe that's the problem. Maybe the mirrors at work are to blame and I actually look great.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
Absolutely. Usually my problem is too many loose things and I just look super frumpy. Or during pregnancy realizing I was stretching something so thin it was see through. Fun times.

Usually it's my makeup. Looks great at home, horrible at work! I'm having that problem today. I'm avoiding the mirrors...
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
Oh yes! I get to work and realize I have a stain on my dress or that I'm wearing my underwear backwards or that my makeup is hideous.
honeydew / 7687 posts
I often think I look pretty decent and then look in sunlight in the car rearview mirror and grimace.. my PP skin is a disaster.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
Everyday lol! I sometimes do my makeup like a freaking pro and then get in the car and in the sunlight it looks so heavy and I look so pale. Meh, whatevs.

LO has been sick (therefore snotty) lately and loves to wipe her nose on my shirt. To ensure I arrive at work snot free I've been putting my shirt on over my nursing tank after I drop LO off at daycare. So I am snot free but I don't get to give myself a glance in the mirror before I go. I consider it a win if my face looks clean (snot and drool free).

I don't have any kids and this happens to me sometimes. When i was just starting out I didn't have a plethora of suits on hand, so I wore a lot of separates and cardigans. I thought it still looked professional, but then I'd get to work and see all the other attorneys with full suits, and just kind of hang my head in shame. I'm working on it, I'm working on it!

Yes! That's why I do all my outfit organizing on Sunday for the week. I had one bad week and I just felt I deserved better.

Yes, I need to bring my makeup kit. Maybe I can touch up during pump breaks.

@Corduroy: omg I accidentally wore a black sweater on Monday that had LO's gross nose crap on it. ew.

@Foodnerd81: ah this was me yesterday! we were leaving the apartment and DH was like "you look...comfortable" and when i got to work i realized i looked like i was wearing someone else's clothes! i was trying to wear some old pants that are a size too big and they looked like mc hammer pants paired with the baggy shirt i was wearing! i tried to avoid the mirror all day but i felt like the pregnant lady who just totally gave up on looking presentable at work

This used to happen to me. I'm still on maternity leave, but today I went to Target and found I had chocolate on my face. Noticed it once I got back in the car. Ugh, so embarrassing!

Yes! There's nothing like having your coworker tell you that she can see your leopard print undies through your dress--at the end of the day--after teaching 150 fifteen year old students. Ugh.

@Smurfette: I feel like this too . . . especially when--thanks to the fluorescent lighting in the bathroom-- I look so tired! (being sick has sucked the remaining life out of me)

@Mrs. Taco: OMG!!!! She didn't think to point that out earlier in that day!?!
Yes, but I'm usually aware that I look like crap & then something brings to light just how crappy I look, like even worse than I thought. School has cameras and when I drop off for work sometimes I see myself on the camera, that's usually my, 'oh dear I should go home & get it together' moment. I've done drop off in sweats twice this wk, then gone home & gotten ready for the day, lol, I'm bringin scrubby back

@MrsKoala: this!
I'm a hot mess usually. I've been trying to be better recently, but I think I'm just a mess

@mrs. bird: I didn't see her until the end of the day My hallway co-workers are all males so I'm thinking they decided just to leave it alone! haha

@LazyLightning: yep. Or I find a stain somewhere really obvious. Sigh.

@MsLipGloss: Yes! I think my makeup is covering the bags till my first trip to the bathroom at work. Damn lights.

I don't work, but when I leave the house this happens to me almost every time. I feel like I haven't embraced my post baby body yet
grapefruit / 4823 posts
haha ALL.THE.TIME! i'm like...really i thought THIS looked good? lol
pomelo / 5000 posts
Even worse--I got to work and didn't realize how bad I looked until an employee said to me, "Ummm, is you sweater inside out?" It was already 1:00 at that point!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
Only like, every day. The worst is the days that I actually try and make an attempt to get ready, leave the house thinking I look freaking awesome, and then during my first bathroom break, I catch myself in the work bathroom mirror and it's just...bad. I also totally blame the work mirrors/lighting...
persimmon / 1178 posts
@ms.janedoe: yes, this. I try and then two hours later I look like a wreck, usually with a smear of diaper cream somewhere I didn't notice before I left the house.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
I think that's me today. My outfit is probably OK, but I have stringy hair that I washed last night and ran a brush through this morning. And, like usual, I did my makeup in the parking lot when I got to work. Teething toddler is my excuse. lol.
nectarine / 2600 posts
I don't have a "real" job but I'm pretty aware of the hot mess I am before I leave the house. Just don't have the energy to care that much. Of course I am also afraid of going to the grocery store after "work" because of said hot mess. So...fail fail.

Mine is much more my hair...I really should take the time to do it, but instead every day is in a ponytail...a really ugly looking ponytail. I have a cute outfit on (i think) today and when I look in the mirror all I see is my gross flat pony! ha
pear / 1556 posts
Yes, it happens with my make-up all the time. The lighting at work is much different than my lighting at home, or even natural lighting, so I end up looking as pale as a vampire.
honeydew / 7091 posts
Yes, all the time My hair is in between styles and it is just... so blah. Some days I totally space and forget to do my makeup, which is NO bueno. And then there are the baby spit stains on cardigans I didn't realize were there since I rushed to get ready in 10 minutes...
