How do you pronounce the boys name Everett? Do you say the -er portion in the middle to make it three syllables or just let it roll and just say two syllables. Is there another spelling you prefer?

I've only known one person with this name and he used three syllables, so that's how I pronounce it.

Hmm tricky - my 1st thought was 3 syllables but then the more I say it in my head I think I would use 2!

@Mamaof2: I know I can't decide how I would say it.
@wonderstruck: We don't know anyone with this name but DH keeps bringing it up.

I think I say it somewhere in between. Not two syllables like I would say Emmett, but not quite like Ever-et either. Almost a half syllable in between. I like the name a lot.

@bpcmarj: i wonder if we're more likely to say it this way because that's how we say the place, it never occurred to me people would say it any other way!

My almost 3 month old is named Everett! Excellent name
We pronounce it with two syllables. A friend of ours told us her grandfather was Everett and she pronounced it with two syllables as well.

@JerricaBenton: same-- kind of 2.5 syllables, but definitely more than 2.
I really like the name, but it's the name of a town near us so it would be sort of weird to use it!

I know three people with the name, a 30 year old, a seven year old, and a newborn. They are all EV-er-et, three syllables with the emphasis on the first syllables.

There is a city called Everett nearby. Everyone I know says Ev-rit.

two syllables. i thought long and hard about this one when i thought we might be having a boy (such an awesome name!). we like 3 syllable names but in the end we thought it was unlikely people would stretch it out to 3.

Two syllables, only because there is a town north of me with that name, and that is how most people around here pronounce it.

2 syllables. It's a family name and that's how everyone in my family pronounces it.
