Ma-tay-ah for sure. When I read the name, I thought, how else could you even say that?

I had a student with this name years back. Her family pronounced it: "Muh-tay-uh." When I first saw her name on the roster, I believed it to be, "Mah-tay-yah." Her mother stated it can be pronounced either way, however, they preferred how they chose to pronounce it ... Perfectly understandable.
It was a nice name that fit the pretty little girl perfectly. -
