We just got a new convertible seat donated for the home & I get to install it in our new 11 passenger van! (really neat story surrounding it's purchase).
I'm reading the manual now & heading over shortly to get it in! yay! *I might be a safety nerd*

@runsyellowlites: I don't think you are weird! I get a huge sense if accomplishment when I install a car seat correctly.. It's harder than it seems! I think I'm a safety nerd too

@T-Mom: I was unsuccessful!! 
Not only could we not install it where we needed it (the 2nd row) I couldn't get it to not move all over the place with the seatbelt OR LATCH! I also snagged/tore the seat of our brand new van! Even better it was super hot & I was so nauseous trying to do it... Of course my mom doesn't know we're expecting so I had to just keep it to myself. She kept saying the seat seemed fine to her (she barely tugged it) & that I was just pulling it to hard. Le sigh.
I'm gonna post here shortly some pics & such on the car seat group to see if I can get some direction & we'll probably be seeing one of our local techs soon so I can get some hands on troubleshooting!
Car seat install is definitely harder than it seems! Lol

@runsyellowlites: aw I'm sorry. I hope it is something that can be worked out with a tech and it's not an incompatibility issue... Our new combination booster ended up being plain incompatible with our car and it was a huge bummer. Hope you get to feeling a little better too...

Aw sorry it didn't go well. What car seat did you get? What car seat group do you post to? I'm having some issues with our doino radian with finding the perfect fit with the straps.

@T-Mom: Me too! It was donated so I'd hate for it to not work & to have to out another request out! With our having all different size kiddos this was the seat that was suggested. 
@mrskc: It's an Evenflo SureRide 65. We need a seat that would fit a wide range of kids... It is wider than we *need* though.

Im sorry you couldn't get a good install. Hopefully the techs can help you. I'm very interested in this story of the 11 passenger van though!

@T.H.O.U.: We have been needing a large vehicle for some time now, but have been managing well without one (we had a smaller van but it ended up wrecked & not useable). So fast forward to a few days ago... we found an 11 passenger Ford van at the Dodge dealer, yay! We got approved for it & while we were getting paperwork another salesman SOLD IT! *oh no*. We didn't sweat it though & just stuck to knowing that God would fulfill the need He knew we had when we needed it filled (never late, always on time). Well the dealership decided to go to auction just for us since they sold *our* van! We ended up with a newer model (2013) with fewer mile (around 20k) for LESS money (just at 20k).
My mom got the keys the day before last! It's so nice & really fits our needs..... now if I could just get the 2 infant & 2 convertible seats that we need in it installed! lol

I ultimately got it in the seat I needed it in but had to install it using the belt clip! I even had to twist the buckle stalk to make it shorter & then practically STAND IN the seat to get enough weight on it to rebuckle the belt! The only questionable part is the manual said the clip needed to be 1/2 an inch from the buckle but I couldn't get it that close..... a tech had mentioned 1" & I was able to do that! Phew that was SOOOO hard!
I never want to have to do that again & I told DH to remind me to NOT get that seat for ourselves! lol
Now just to install the other infant base & 1 more convertible seat (thankfully a different one that should be easier to install) lol

@runsyellowlites: that's great!! We have to basically sit in our convertible and press down while pulling toget it tight enough.

@runsyellowlites: I'll bet you broke a pretty good sweat doing that too! Last time I did an install I was so hot and sweaty (especially in this heat and humidity)! Good job mom!

@T-Mom: To say the least! Having the first bench seat in the way made it pretty difficult & I had to climb over it to leverage the seat. I feel like I was hit by a freight train! lol
