Yup, You click to particular websites through them then Ebates gives you cashback after you make a purchase.

ie I'm going to buy something from Macys. I go to Ebates first, search for Macys and click to Macys THROUGH Ebates. Then I will get back 14% of my total purchase at Macys. Every quarter they send you a big fat check. It costs you nothing!

Macys isn't usually 14% cashback though it's part of Ebates birthday promotion. And then daily there is a store that is double cash back.

You want an invite?

Before making a purchase, you go to ebates.com and click on their referral link to be redirected to the site you want to purchase from (gap, kate spade, etc.). When you make a purchase, the referral link notifies Ebates you made a purchase for X amount. Ebates will then give you a percentage cash back on the dollar amount you spent. The percentage is pre-set by ebates and can change at any time. At the end of each quarter, Ebates will mail you a check for all the cash back you've earned. However, if your cash back earned is less than $10 (or maybe it's $15, don't recall), they'll roll it forward to the next quarter or until you reached $10 cash back before mailing you a check.

@rahlyrah: Nope. Just go sign up. I have a check coming soon for like $80 because I try to buy most things online anyways. You just have to get in the habit of signing in and going to the purchasing website through it.

Just wanted to add that there's also a Chrome extension that automatically notifies you if a site you're on has an Ebates cash back! You just click at the top of the page if it does and then you don't have to go to the Ebates site.

The tradeoff is that it probably tracks your history, and you're stuck with these notifications until you click. It's worth it for me because I was never going to the site before.
