I need some inspiration and I'm a visual learner. Trouble is, I don't have cable. I'm looking for something I can stream online, Netflix or even buy a dvd if I have to. So please tell me what you like to watch and why and I"ll try to dig it up.

America's test kitchen on PBS! I love every one of their recipes & reviews. They give great explanations about all the variations they tried & what worked/ didn't work & why they chose an ingredient or method of cooking. I like to know the how & why of things, their show, cookbooks, and magazine are, IMO, the best at that. Cooks Country is also from them & I make more of their recipe just because they tend to be faster/simpler. I love their show/mag/cookbooks for the same reasons.

I love Barefoot Contessa and most of her recipes. I "learned" to cook by watching Rachael Ray (even though I don't love her recipes, she has good basic tips) and Giada de Laurentiis (Everyday Italian).

@betsyboop: I also "learned to cook" watching Rachel Ray. I think she is kind of annoying now, but 30 Minute Meals is a great show to watch to learn some basics. I also really like Giada, but felt like I learned more from RR.
@anonysquire: Good Eats is one of my favorites. You can probably tell from my user name, but yeah, I like learning the nerdy facts about why you cook something the way you do. -
Im no help, i only watch the baking ones and the fun ones like Man v Food, Unwrapped, etc. lol

Definitely America's Test Kitchen on PBS. It's a great show with delicious recipes. You can watch them and find the recipes online, too.
