    @madisonbee:LOL! Sometimes I try to not buy sweets, but I do buy the ingredients to make them, so I have to choose between being lazy or eating sweets. And then half the time I just end up eating the chocolate chips out of the bag!

    @snarkybiochemist: Thanks.

    Feeling emotionally back to normal after finishing this round of Clomid a few days ago. Any advice on staving off the Clomid crazies for future cycles would be welcome.

    Went to the gyno Monday morning and she was like "No wonder your symptoms are confusing, you have a yeast infection AND bacterial vaginosis." Yay! So I'm on a vaginal gel and an antibiotic right now. She said it is fine to TTC while using the gel but that we just can't BD right around when I'm doing the application of it.

    I started running again, which is just an overall mood lifter and hopefully can be an additional distraction during this and future TWWs. I started running a few years ago at age 31 and was up to about 4 miles. Then a year and a half ago we moved into a hilly neighborhood and I just stopped. This marks the third time I will have started the couch-to-5k app over again to try to get used to running on the hills. I have only done two days so far, but I brought the dog along which makes it a LOT more fun. Hopefully more exercise helps with TTC as well.

    Other than that, not much to update. Working from home today because we're getting our new garage door installed. Which means at almost 11am I haven't really done any work yet. Been catching up with this board for almost an hour! I'm on CD 12 so probably going to pounce on my husband when he gets home tonight. Expecting a positive OPK around day 15 - at least that's when I got it last cycle. We had BD'd that morning and the two days after but had not in the days leading up to the positive OPK. This month I want to make sure to BD ahead of time too!

    @bizwitch: I was switched to letrozole after 1 clomid cycle so I'm not much help with getting through the crazies but I do have so much sympathy. I got hot flashes and between that and the emotional outbursts I wanted to go set up shop in a nice igloo.

    @bizwitch: my mother in law knows we are trying. I just think she's not the most sensitive person, and doesn't think through things that she is going to say.

    @bizwitch: My lining was on the edge of being too thin, it was 7.6mm my doctor likes it above 8mm and anything under 7mm really concerns her. She was afraid that since I was below the threshold after the first treatment it would only get worse.

    @snarkybiochemist: Still spotting this morning, and I don't really feel like AF is coming...I'd be done with my period by now if my body just stopped being weird. I'm really getting concerned! What if I have premature menopause?! But then the RE said my ovaries had plenty of eggs, I saw them, and it didn't look polycystic either. I'm driving myself crazy. I might call the advice nurse today...but I don't know if there is anything they can do for you once you start spotting.

    @snarkybiochemist: Oh that's interesting. When I went in for my CD3 ultrasound the nurse said my lining was very thin. AF also came on CD24 last cycle, which is super early for me, especially considering my positive OPK wasn't until CD14. If I have an early period again this cycle I'm going to raise some questions about it.

    for those of you that chart, how long is it between your first positive OPK and ovulation? I'm curious to know how much this varies.

    nectarine / 2180 posts

    @Tionn3: Now you are just driving yourself nuts. I know its hard not to think about everything that could possibly go wrong. I hope that they have advice for you, but I'm not sure what they can do for spotting either.
    @bizwitch: Yea the lining measurement was from the day I triggered so obviously they want it bigger for implantation. Does your doctor have you on progesterone supplements after ovulation?

    @mrskansas: I would usually get a temp rise the day after my opk+. I don't think that's totally normal though? It would go above my coverline, but would continue to go up for another couple days. So I always wondered if I ovulated that same night or something. I haven't temped in a while though so not sure what it would be now.

    @bizwitch: I've done something like 7 clomid cycles and yeah there's no staving off the crazy for me (and it's worse on higher doses). The moodiness and the hot flashes are the worst, I guess knowing what to expect helps. And I agree about keeping an eye on your lining, I think mine was ok my first couple go rounds but later it became a problem and I think actually hurt my chances. But my RE didn't use femara so I couldn't try that even though I wanted to (it's off label usage so depends on doc).

    This is totally random but WHOA drinking while on antibiotics is no joke. Last night I drank about a cup of homemade kombucha which likely has a little bit of alcohol in it, and later I got super dizzy and nauseous.

    I'm thinking of POAS today with FRER. I figured, if it comes up with something or nothing, I can let my OBGYN know before the weekend as we leave Monday morning for vacation.

    @madisonbee: Good idea.

    My proposed POAS date is the day we leave for vacation and the day AF is due. Our flight is early so I probably won't bother with FMU that day, especially since my mother in law is coming with us and sleeping over the night before.

    So I'm trying to decide if I should POAS before I leave or just go on vacation and try not to think about it until AF comes. And if she doesn't, just test when I get back which would be about 20 DPO.

    @bizwitch: 10 days its pushing short for a luteal phase. My doc has me on progesterone from after ovulation through either a negative test or the first 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. If you are concerned talk to your doctor (or the np, they should be able to write you a script)

    @snarkybiochemist: Yeah I am definitely going to bring it up if this next cycle is short too. Maybe (hopefully) last cycle was just a fluke. I have short cycles when I'm really stressed out, and it seems like work just gets more and more annoying every day. When we were renovating the house my parents owned, which we later bought from them, my cycles were only 3 weeks long! That was probably the most stressful period of my adult life.

  29. snarkybiochemist

    nectarine / 2180 posts

    @bizwitch: That is the opposite of everything I have ever read or experienced, my cycles go long (granted they go long and wonky in general as a concept). I hope it was just a weird fluky cycle and everything goes back to normal (or you know you get pregnant)

    @bizwitch: right now the baby queue is empty, so I figured she won't say stupid shit like that again until someone becomes pregnant...which I think is unlikely at the moment as everyone that would have become pregnant has already become pregnant and had their baby. phew. But yes, I think I will have husband talk to her if it comes up again.

    When we were first dealing with IF, I seriously prayed for patience. Man do I ever regret that! I think God ended up giving me more opportunities to "practice"

    I hope your doctors are able to figure something out to help you

    @bizwitch: The only possible solution I've heard to avoiding the clomid crazies is switching to femara. Sorry!

    I've only been on femara because I have PCOS and it tends to work better for folks that struggle with that.

    @mrskansas: I'm not currently charting, but when I was... OPK to O is usually within 2 days. I tended to be closer to 1 (ovulating the following day.

    I'm cautiously joining you guys this month. I'll be POAS either Monday or Tuesday (or realistically, probably both).

    I had a scare earlier this month with hypothyroidism and my levels kept rising to a point that would likely lead to MC, so we didn't really put too much focus on trying. But we did hit O, my levels came back down to a reasonable level after a med change, and my hormones are ideal this month (I have estrogen and progesterone monitored each month to figure out how to treat imbalances).

    At the beginning of the month, I sort of put it all in God's hands and went ahead and used Femara and post-peak HCG, so the setting is right...if that one time of DTD was enough. I guess we'll see next week.

    DH and I are going out of town for our last daughter's due date this weekend. So I know I won't test until Monday. But I'll probably also test Friday in order to make sure the HCG shots are leaving my system. I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle a false positive this month.

    @mrskansas: I tend to ovulate quickly after a positive opk, often later the same day, or the next morning. I can usually feel it, and then get a temp rise.

    You guys I don't think I'll get ANY work done today with all the posts on this board. Which I'm sort of okay with because I've been working extra anyway, and there's no way for my supervisors to know if I'm actually working from home today or screwing around. I'm a reporter and all I'm focused on is longer term features at the moment.
