Only 6DPO-- time is totally dragging! What about u MrsMcCarthy? Can't wait for the week to fly by so we can test. I hope the dreams are baby related too!! They were weird enough for me to research. I've been reading something about dreams and water in early pregnancy. It has something to do with amniotic sac filling with fluid. However, I'm not sure if these dreams occur before women know they're preggers or after. It makes sense for women who are confirmed pregnant to have these dreams, but before is kind of nuts.

    It's an interesting read:

Just wanted to share this interesting article about using OPKs as HPTs. While not fool proof, it is handy when you have a million OPKs and run out of HPTs! I like how it is not anecdotal and actually involves a scientific explanation. Here is my photo as proof, holy positive!

@Mrs.Panda: when I first got my BFP (at 14dpo) my pregnancy test lines were on the lighter side but the two OPKs i took were super dark like what you posted!

So I broke down and bought a pack of OPKs! I have no idea how to use them though, haha.

@snowjewelz: @dc yoga bee: @MrsMccarthy: Thanks! And that makes me happy to hear.

@Adira: What kind did you get?

  10. theotherstark

    pomegranate / 3045 posts

@Adira: Ha, I did that last month! Started using them the day I ovulated, so it was nice at least to confirm. I wasn't temping then, though. They're interesting! I have just been using the cvs kind.

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs.Panda: The brand appears to be "Answer"? They look like FRERs to me...

@theotherstark: Hopefully they help me out because I really want to make sure we time BD correctly! Although I've checked my cervix position the last two days since my CM has been watery for like two weeks and it's low and firm so I'm no where near ovulating yet! I think I'll keep checking my cervix until I notice a change and then I'll start using the OPKs.

    pomelo / 5607 posts

@Mrs.Panda: Yes! Whenever I need a little reassurance I use an opk because I have like 30 of them still. They get so nice and dark too, unlike my hpt's which are consistently pretty light no matter what.

  13. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Adira: sorry to hear that you seem to not be ovulating. How many sticks come in the box you got? For people new to OPKs I highly recommend ordering a big pack of wondfos on amazon. They usually come very quickly in the mail and they are so cheap that you don't feel so bad using several of them a month. The best way to use them in order to catch our surge is to start testing two or three days after your period. It's eat to take two a day. One after 1pm and one right before bed can be great. Some people won't catch their surge otherwise. Some people only surge during sleep so they could test first thing in the morning. Unlike pregnancy tests where any line mean positive OPKs are only positive if the test line is darker or as dark as the control line. It took me a little practice but I finally got the hang of OPKs. Good luck! I hope you ovulate soon. How is weaning going? My son still nurses all but 7 hours a day. I'm praying its enough to get me pregnant because he is really fighting it.

Ok, went and bought a bbt. Can someone walk me through using it, what to look for etc. This is why I love the bee!

    Another confusing month....
CD22 right now. FF is telling me I O'd back on CD14 due to a temperature rise that hasn't gone back down - making me 8DPO. Problem is there wasn't any BD'ing being done during that time...
For the past 5 months I've always gotten + OPK's before I O (and those OPK's usually haven't been + until CD22 or so. I usually O around CD23). However, I've been testing twice a day since CD10 and haven't gotten even close to a positive yet.

So, either I'm 8DPO, with no chance of being pregnant (which is still kind of great since I haven't made it past 4DPO in months) - or I'm yet to O, and will still have a short LP. It's just so weird for my temp to be this high without having O'd. I dunno, I'm at a loss.

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MrsMccarthy: Thank you so much for that info!! My package only came with 7 tests - so presumably a week's worth if I tested only once a day. If I don't have much luck this month, I probably will end up ordering some wondfos off Amazon.

As far as weaning, we haven't started yet. I'm planning on starting in March, once Xander turns one, though I'm hoping to still nurse once a day. Hopefully once I'm not nursing/pumping all the time, my cycle will get a little more normal!

  17. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@MrsScottish: join Fertility friend stat! It's free and will teach you all about charting but here are the basics:

As soon as you wake up before you pee, get up, speak or drink anything take your temp. I personally prefer vaginal temping because I find it to be more accurate and consistent but I know it's not for everyone. After you take your temp log it on Fertlity friend or an app or notebook. Once you ovulate your temp will go up the next day and should sustain for three days to confirm O. You won't be able to time BD until you have charted a couple cycles so I recommend also learning about cm and OPKs if you want to catch your fertile window. That or you can bd every other day until you notice the shift. Good luck!!

  18. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Keppa: oh I hope you will see a good healthy luteal phase this month. If I am not pregnant I would at least love a longer LP too. This 6-8 day shite is not cutting it. I would keep taking OPKs though just in case you O late because ya never know.

@MrsMccarthy: I am currently cd 19. Should I wait till AF arrives to start or should I start tomorrow ?!?!

  20. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@MrsScottish: I'd say it won't hurt to start your routine now. Even if you already ovulated you will start finding a groove.

I am for sure a rollover this month now. I started 2 days earlier than I thought I should have, so I'm not sure what the deal was with EWCM/ovulation. I went ahead and ordered OPKs for next month since my cycles are still wonky pp. I'm not sure when I should start using them, though, since my cycles are slightly irregular in general (though more so PP):
    23 cycles
Cycle length: Ave. 32 Min. 26 Max. 40 Med. 31
We are going through a ton of unrelated stress/anxiety right now and I really hope it isn't affecting anything. The peak of the stress is at the same time as I should ovulate this cycle.

@PawPrints: @scg00387: Hope you ladies have had better outcomes than I.

  24. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Radish: I would get some wondfos and start testing twice a day 4 days or so after your period until you get a positive. You'll use a lot of them but you should get some idea of what is going on. If it takes a bit then I highly recommend the clear blue easy monitor for irregular cycles. Nursing can also affect hormones so perhaps a b complex may help. I'm so sorry you're out.

  25. Radish

@MrsMccarthy: It is amazing how complicated this all can be. Btw I'm super hopeful for you this cycle.

@Radish: thank you! You and I have so much in common. We both got pregnant so easily the first time. It's hard not to expect things to go as well again. Wishing you luck and I hope we both end up on the November babies board together!

CD 40 !! Nausea's for the past 4 days on and off, and still BFN. Testing tomorrow and if I dont get my BFP at 20 DPO i will just get over the fact that AF will be approaching soon and i am out for this cycle. Wish me luck ladies.

    @Tam: good luck honey!

Ugh I got another high on my CBEFM this morning. I can early see that the estrogen line is still dark and I'm wondering f this is a bad sign for me ovulation wise. LH tests are negative and FF is still showing me as 3DPO today but this concerns me regarding my hormones. I hope I have a chance this month. TTC is so stressful.

Do any of you ladies use Amazon Subscribe and Save? Because I just realized that I can buy FRERs for less than $3 each with S&S... they are about $10 for 3, plus the 20% discount you get if you get more than 5 things a month. That's about 1/4 the price of CVS! Given the bad luck I am having with bum Wondfos lately, I think I'll stock up on FRERs.

You all make me want to stockpile FRERs, lol.

Ok, I need help with OPKs.

I am 99% sure I ovulate on CD14, which will be Wednesday.

My OPK this morning was pretty light with FMU (I tend to test with FMU and around 5pm. I drink a *lot* of water).

I should be starting to get darker ones, right? And tomorrow should be a blazing positive?

I am just confused about the timing between a positive OPK and when O occurs.

Looks like I'm out this month. CD 27 and no signs of ovulation yet. Time to start the Fertility Tea, OPKs, and roll on over to March. Congrats to the many BFPs this month! Keep up the good work! Happy and healthy nine months!
