I would plan on morning time alone and the afternoon time together?

My husband is the same way! So frustrating.

In fact he just left for the gym and I have to be at work in 1.5 hours. The gym is 20 min away. I just asked him to pick DS up at my parents so we're not rushed and he said no so now I have to wait and risk being late for work (he's also stubborn and in a bad mood). Sigh.

I don't have any suggestion but I big hug of sympathy bc, on his own, DH is like this too! I'm lucky to get a shower long enough to wash my hair & shave my legs ONCE a week (all other showers are in a flash)... He takes a daily 30+ minutes shower & I'm always having to drag him out of bed on his days off. Boo

I make DH get up with me and the baby on weekends. He pulled the "I get to sleep in" BS on me for about 7 months before I flipped out and told him that if he got to sleep until 12 one day a weekend, so did I. That lasted about 2 weeks... lol

Dh was like that before lo came. I didn't mind too much though, that's when I had me time. Now he wakes up when lo gets up.

My DH is the same way! =( No advice but I hope you guys make the best of the rest of your day.

I'm a little bit more like your husband, so I can see it from both sides. It seems like really, you just have a different idea of what the "ideal" Sunday would be.

For me, sleeping late, taking a leisurely shower, grabbing some lunch and going out on the boat sounds perfect! But my husband is a little more like you, @Mrs. Champagne, and likes to get "up an' at 'em" on the weekends and pack in as much stuff as we can. It was causing some grumblings in our house for the exact reasons you outlined, he felt like he was "waiting around" for me, and I felt he was rushing me around for no reason!

What works for us is, like @T.H.O.U. suggested, making a plan. Even if that plan is "lazy morning, see where the afternoon takes us", at least then we're both on the same page. If our plan is "wake up early and do x, y, z" then I am perfectly capable of getting out of bed and making it happen, but if left to my own devices I will sleep in!

How does your husband do if you have plans? Like, if you're meeting friends for brunch at 11, will he be ready on time? If he has no problem with that kind of thing, than our solution could work for you guys too. If he CAN'T get his butt in gear even then, than yeah, I'd just leave without him and do my own thing in that case!

Ooh, I know what that feels like!

Wanna know what I do? Bring him breakfast and coffee in bed when I want him to wake up! Its like gift wrapping a great big "get up you lazy *string of obscenities *" and popping a bow on it! Then I bounce excitedly next to him, speaking ten to the dozen, listing all the lovely things we have planned for the day until he realises that hanging out in bed isn't really proving all that relaxing anyway and he gets up! Sometimes I have to resort to "come on, get up...." (in a whiny voice) but rarely.

To be fair, of late, I'm the one who has to be fished out of bed!! Pregnancy insomnia sucks!!

My only advice is to be super clear about your expectations. My husband has no awareness for subtlety, so I just say exactly what I want to happen. If I just get up early and try to wake him up without saying "I want to go to lunch in 15 minutes with you," or whatever, then he would just laze around.

We used to have this problem a lot, I used to either set the dog or cat on him or bring him coffee a la @Cherrybee: to get his butt out of bed.

Since we have the baby it really hasn't been much of an issue. He's quite effective at getting us both out of bed pretty early. We make a weekend plan ahead of time- nothing formal or exact, just what we both want to accomplish that weekend. It also helps for us to get moving on the earlier side of the morning when we want to go out for breakfast so we don't have to wait to be seated with a hungry baby.

We still do have sleep-in days, if he gets one, I get a nap or early bedtime- fair is fair!

My DH and my inlaws all sleep in like it's their job. Since the baby arrived, I'm the one that does the mornings. At one point, DH was doing the morning shift for daycare. Now, I do all of the morning shift. Weekends, I still get up with the baby at 5:30am-6:30am while DH sleeps until 10am at the latest. This is considered some improvement where he wouldn't even wake up without my help. I got sick and tired of being his alarm clock. He has no choice but to wake himself up and get ready. Him setting the alarm on the weekend to 10am is some improvement too. These have been the hard won interpersonal changes we've had to deal with since LO arrived. I'd love to sleep in until 9am one day. I don't think that will happen until LO and a future sibling are 18 years old.
