As a first-time mom, when did you start feeling movement? I'm 17w5d and haven't felt anything yet. Is that normal?

Hi,
I'm Currently 22 weeks and didn't really feel anything definitive until 19 weeks (I think in May have felt flutters before this but not too sure). I was really worried And Ended up going to see a midwife as everyone else seemed to be feeling things on my due date board. The midwife told me that as a first time mum, she says it can take up to 21 weeks! At 19 I really started to feel kicks and now it's is VERY hard and clear. Try not to worry. You will feel them soon.

I was 19 weeks, felt nothing like I expected it to, no bubbles or popping or butterflies, I felt like a slow grinding in my belly. I think I'd actually been feeling it a but longer and dismissed it until during my scan she told me baby was moving and it matched that grinding feeling.

I didn't feel anything definitively baby until about 20-21 weeks. I may have felt a grinding like @Mrs tartan: mentioned (and still do) but I skipped right over the butterfly stage and went straight to little pops. She didn't really start moving until like 22-23 weeks. Now she is pretty much non stop at 29 weeks.

I think I was right towards the end of 17 wks before I felt anything at all and by 20 weeks it was definitive and daily. I bet you'll feel something soon.

Totally normal! I felt around 18 weeks definitively but my doctor told me after 20 weeks was normal, especially if you have an anterior placenta.

20 weeks with baby 1 but I had an anterior placenta. Even then it was mostly at night. I didn't feel consistent throughout the day movement until 24 weeks. I also skipped over the butterfly stage and it felt like little touches / pops.

I didn't feel anything till 21-22 weeks with LO 1 because I had an anterior placenta.

I didn't have regular movements till past 22 week due to anterior placenta. This time no anterior placenta and it still took almost past 20 weeks!

I started feeling regular movement at 17 weeks. I've always been it's normal to start at 20 weeks.

I did not feel anything at all before 21 weeks. By 23 weeks the movements were much more obvious and common.

Completely normal! I didn't even feel anything until 20 weeks and even then it was so small I was always questioning if it was the baby or just my tummy. It wasn't distinct for a couple more weeks.

Totally normal! I didnt feel my son until close to 28 weeks! Some of it I think was because I was a first time mom and I probably had movement sooner now that I look back at it and didnt know it or think it was definitively the baby so I didnt count it til I was sure part of it was because my son was a very calm baby in womb and as a whole didnt move around a lot in general. I use to joke I would give birth before ever feeling him move. Compare that to my daughter whom I felt at 13 weeks and never stopped moving in womb!

Around 17 weeks or just after is when I started to feel things but it took a couple weeks to be consistent.

22 weeks about. I had an anterior placenta as well though. ( which no one mentioned to me, even when I asked about not feeling movements! I saw it on the report months late)

I was about 18-19 when I began to feel a flutter or two, but I'd feel it then nothing for days.....I found out my placenta was anterior at my anatomy scan! Today @ 22 weeks I will feel her only if she is to the side or "kicks" hard still speradic though!

Yep! I was 17 weeks I think for "maybe that was movement" and 19 I was definitely able to tell!

Little teeny movements (but fairly unmistakable as baby) around 19 weeks.

At like 16-17 weeks if I stayed super still I could feel spasms like the kind you get in your eye, and at 19-20 weeks I could see/feel the movement from the outside.

I think after 20 weeks for me. Being a FTM, and having an anterior placenta, I've felt some things here & there before 20 weeks but was never even really sure. Suddenly, at some point after 20 weeks, I started feeling her all the time and now she won't stop kicking at 24 weeks!

It was WAY late for me! Like 22/23 weeks! And I didn't have anything like anterior placenta!

17-18 weeks I started feeling little light spasms. They were few and far between at first. I'm 19 weeks now and they're definitely more noticeable but still too light for anyone else to feel with a hand on my stomach.

I had an anterior placenta for my first and and felt kicks at 24 weeks.
