My 8 mo just got his first cold. Cough and runny nose started on Monday. How long does a cold usually last for your LO? I know it's silly, but we were planning on taking him to see Santa on Sunday and I'm afraid he won't be better by then.

Depends. The coughing has lasted a week or two before. Runny nose she has one pretty much all through winter.
A cold mist humidifier plus some baby vicks on the bottom of his feet should help his coughing at night.
Hope he feels better!

Thanks!! The humidifier does seem to help. On the positive side, I am just so grateful he hasn't gotten sick until now! I feel like I had a good run

So sad. We just dealt with our first cold, and it lasted almost 2 weeks. But the worst of it was over after 5 or 6 days.

Wow he made it 8 months! That's pretty good! I ran the hot shower for the steam and nose frida! Usually lasts a week or two but could be okay by Sunday!

About a week has been the "norm" for us, but LO has only had four colds! Dd somehow didn't get a cold til 11 months but now that she's climbing all over the park and walking and grabbing everything in stores etc she has been getting about one a month. Hang in there... He should at least be feeling a bit better by Sunday, probably just a but of leftover runny nose, but ok to see Santa!

DS got his first cold last month and it lasted two weeks. We did Baby Vapo Rub on his chest, back and bottom of feet every night before bed, humidifier with eucalyptus oil, baths with eucalyptus oil, saline and snot sucker every few hours..it was awful and heartbreaking.

Thanks all! He seems to be feeling okay so I'm hopeful. I made a rub with raw garlic and coconut oil for his chest and feet, which I've heard can work really well, so fingers crossed!!
