DH says he doesn't want to invest in the monitor yet. Hm.
So I guess I will just play around with OPKs for a few more months. If no success once I get past April- I definitely want one.

I was at the store today looking for a BBT thermometer...and are the refills of the fertility monitor really like 60 bucks?

@Mrs.Lilac: I start testing on day 10, but i ovulate late. If your have pretty regular cycles you can start testing on day 8 and adjust from there. Once you start, test every day until you get a peak reading

@HolisticMama: Gah I just bought one. I want to ensure I'm ovulating (@mrsbee wrote a great post about the monitor and said it helped her realize she wasn't ovulating I think??), and it also supposedly learns your body/cycles and can help with timing. I'm having issues identifying CM so like the reassurance of another method. I'm also charting temp (I found a BBT on Amazon that doesn't beep-it wasn't very expensive). I think my husband will think I've gone off the deep end when he sees all the gadgets and devices I've procured. My theory is that "less is more" for him, as he gets overwhelmed easily. If he "thinks" all we needed to do was have lots of sex "randomly" and it works for him, then that's what I'll do. For now. Ignorance is bliss!

@ChiCalGoBee: I totally agree! I don't think I'm going to tell him I will be using OPKs. I don't think he needs to know everyday whether I am ovulating or not lol.

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: @ChiCalGoBee: I was TOTALLY like that for the last two cycles and I just found out that DH actually wants to know more. :: shrugs :: So I will keep him in the loop.

@HolisticMama: How are you feeling now?

I've been discouraged b/c I have no idea what's going on, but I just noticed CM, I can't tell if it's just sticky or it's EW though, but it's CM none the less!

  7. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: Do you actually consult your cervix when looking for CM? I read a resource that said you can even push on a bit to see what's up.

I'm feeling overly busy at work and a bit overwhelmed, I guess. I'm trying to get quite a bit done before Saturday so that I can totally relax this weekend (Although I have to come into work for a bit).

I brought a heating pad into work today, so that was nice. Cycle Day 1 today. I'm hoping for a 28ish day cycle this time.

    persimmon / 1167 posts

Oh! And I started temping. I wake up a lot at night and don't know if temping will work for me, but it's fun nonetheless. I am temping vaginally and can't believe how much warmer I am that way. Very good!

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: mm heating pad must be nice! horray for your brand new cycle!

I get up there, but since I just recently looked at all the charts/photos, I'm still unsure of what's going on haha. I literally stand there studying my finger, and with my other hand scroll through pics/instructions on my phone - _ -

@snowjewelz: And to top it off...everyone is different. LOL.
I think I am going to try your approach and try to BD more. I'm also going to throw in preseed to the mix.

Fortunately I usually have really obvious EWCM.

  11. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: I THINK I have sticky right now... not exactly stretching like EW. I used preseed for the 1st time this week! A ton of bees here said that a tiny bit is enough, so I was very afraid to use more lol, it was interesting since we have never used any kind of lubricantion.

Weird AF this month....an afternoon of spotting brown, some red (light) flow for about 24-hours, and now very intermittent brown spotting. Last month's was similar, but not this short. I'm calling my OB tomorrow. I figure it's weird enough to make me nervous, and he can either say "No big deal, it happens, keep going" or "why don't we consider X/Y/Z..." I asked my husband if calling my doc was overkill, and he said, "no, if we're trying to conceive we should figure out if there's something going on in that area." Too true!

  13. ChiCalGoBee

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@snowjewelz: FWIW I've been paying attention to cervical fluid since I got off BC 6 months ago, and it's still a bit baffling. I absolutely remember having a lot of EWCM a few months ago and being like "oh, that's why they call it egg-white!" But haven't had any quite like that since:-(. Seems to be inconsistent for me month-to-month!

  14. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: I don't think calling your doc is overkill at all! That's what they're there for! I have no shame asking weird questions haha.

So strange that you had perfect EWCM just that one time! I know people take Mucinex and have other tricks to increase CM but I'm not sure I want to do that haha.

So I had a regular GYN appointment today with a new doctor, I told her I am TTC so she gave me a sonogram. My uterus looks fine, so that's good news! I asked the technician if she can tell whether I've O'd, and she said I prob did! But it's weird because my temp dropped this morning, and I've had CM these past 2 days so I was thinking I didn't O yet! Ugh.

I also finally took a "practice" OPK today

  15. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@snowjewelz: What did you think of the OPK?

@ChiCalGoBee: I totally don't blame you for wanting to see what's up with the doctor. You would think if you had a real nice uterine lining that you would be bleeding nicely for at least 3ish days.

@ChiCalGoBee: Oh. Also. Was it you that asked me about Colorado? I have been so busy that I missed it. I live in Colorado Springs. I LOVE it.

  17. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@HolisticMama: I used Target brand and it showed up pretty fast. I had a line but not dark enough. I also know I'm not supposed to do one in the morning anyway. I'm debating whether to keep going since the sonogram lady told me she thinks I O'd already. I'll keep the BD up, but not sure if I want to waste more tests!

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@HolisticMama: yes, that's what I'm worried about. At the risk of being anal and obnoxious, I might ask to be seen no matter what. I'm waiting for a call back from the doc's nurse. I'm hoping they take me seriously...ETA: the Nurse Practitioner is seeing me this afternoon. I'm very grateful they didn't try and put me off or insinuate I was being overly concerned.

Yes, I did ask you about Colorado! Hubs and I went to C.C. Blue Star was our fancy "the parents are in town" restaurant, and I also loved Olive Branch:-). What a small world!!

  19. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: Yay! Maybe there will be a reason for you to come and visit again someday! DH and I adore the Blue Star. We also love all the breweries around town. Colorado is a pretty wonderful state.
Where are you now? I'm originally from the East Bay of California.

I'm glad the nurse is going to see you today. Have you ever had your hormones tested?

I am going to get blood drawn for another Ovarian Assessment Report again today.

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@HolisticMama: Just came back from the appointment. She seemed confused about it-especially since this isn't something I've experienced much before the last two months. Her guesses were:

    1) You're pregnant (despite the many negative pregnancy tests, including the one in her office) and it hasn't showed up yet. She said to take a test next week and the week after just in case. I'm relatively certain I'm not, so I don't take much stock in this.
    2) It was just a weird period, the new cycle has began, and we'll hope the next one is more normal.
    3) If I do have a normal bleed after this next cycle, she ordered a whole slew of blood tests to run the gamut. She said I can't have it done until the beginning of the next cycle, though...

So.....it's weird, and limbo continues I guess? I'm pretty sure this month is a wash for me TTC-wise, although I'll still try despite my sucky out-of-town trip timing. I have my brand new Fertility Monitor, so hoping that will help confirm a surge and O, and then if I don't get pregnant, I'll hope for a normal-ish AF to get some answers from these tests. I guess I'm glad to know that I can have info on my body sooner rather than later if there is something funky going on?

How did your blood draw go? I'm assuming they didn't give you any more answers this quickly?

p.s. We make it back to Denver pretty frequently, so we should have lunch sometime:-).

@holisticmama: I'm from the East Bay too!

Popping in and out of the boards this week. Gearing up for another cycle. I think I'm supposed to O on Valentine's Day...Perfect! Haha!

@snowjewelz: I'm literally laughing at your comment about studying your CM and pics on your phone! It can be super confusing! I think I have had EWCM in abundance until TTC. This past cycle I hardly noticed any until right before AF. Some sort if joke the CM gods are playing on me!

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@MrsHansen82: ditto-had an abundance pre-TTC , and now it seems verrrry hard to come by. Sigh!

same for me too re the CM in abundance pre TTC.... very weird. I've been pretty bummed this week about AF arriving. Both my sisters and mum got pregnant (with 8 kids between them!) in their first month of trying and they kept saying I would be the same. I can't dwell on it and I'm pretty glad to at least have a new cycle to monitor but it did make me sad. got my new things to try this cycle though so I'm hoping and praying...

I can't wait for one of us to get a positive!!! how exciting would that be!

It's funny that you all mention it; I think I had more EWCM in the months prior to TTC too. I wonder if it was just because I wasn't looking for it so closely. Hmm.

I haven't been too active in it, but I love this thread I'm on cycle 2 now and anxious to get to my fertile week!!

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@theotherstark: do you know when you are expected to O?

About the CM, I used to be so annoyed that I had so much and had to wear panty liners all the time. Now I'm like come back!!

    @snowjewelz: Exactly!! Haha. I should O the 16 or 17. Hopefully.

Hi ladies. Just started cycle 5. Trying to take things as they go.
Cd 11. Usually get positive opk on day 11 and 12. Haven't tested today yet. DH and i have had many conversations in the last couple weeks about TTC and our future. Last month I was really bummed and he caved under the pressure. We were both sick so no timing at all.
This month we are just having fun.
I have another doc appointment in April which would be after 6 cycles. If nothing has happened she will refer me to a obgyn for further testing.
I am more of a lurker, and have learned a lot from these boards.

    Soooo....how's everyone doing?

After my weird I-didn't-really-have-AF last week, I'm sort of in a weird place. I'm going to try and proceed as though this is a normal cycle, but it still feels strange. I'm excited to see what the Fertility Monitor can tell me about my cycle. If I do have a "cycle" this month....

    This process! I'm tellin' ya!

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@anyajenkins: no-highest they got to were 98.6, and they've been in the 97.7-97.9 range for the last 5-6 days. Wondfos are negative. I know I'm not preggo, but wonder what's going on with my lining that it didn't shed...

    Thanks for asking:).

@ChiCalGoBee: maybe it just wanted to stay extra thick for next cycle to ensure implantation?? (Totally unscientific theory that i just made up )

AFM, I got my first flashing smiley (high reading on the CB ovulation test) this morning on CD11. I was really surprised because last cycle I didn't get it until CD14, but woohoo, valentines week sex party!

  34. HolisticMama

    persimmon / 1167 posts

@ChiCalGoBee: That would be awesome to have lunch sometime! So you and I both had freaky cycles? I know EXACTLY how you feel. You don't think AF is on her way? Just late? I was relieved when she finally showed. Especially since I was determined not to do any housework as a consolation prize.

They said it can take two weeks to get info back about my ovarian reserve. I think regardless of the outcome- we wouldn't consider doing any type of interventions until after my trip to Italy in April.

@MrsHansen82: TTC is so weird and confusing. I had normal cycles until TTC.

@MrsScottish: I think trying to be relaxed and fun is a good way to go about it.

    @anyajenkins: Yay for smileys!!

I am only CD7. Wet CM. Not feeling the desire to DTD, so no pressure. I truly do believe that my body will tell me when it is prime time. I just wish my body would also sync with DH's body- so we'd be on the same page.

I think I will start with OPKs soon.

@anyajenkins: Wouldn't that be lovely if that were the reason? I know it isn't, but I'll pretend that it is to keep my spirits up . I can think of no better party than a Valentine Sex party! No question about DTD on Valentine's Day. Your cycle's timing is enviable!

@tarariggins: yay for new cycle! what is your plan of attack this cycle?

  39. ChiCalGoBee

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@HolisticMama: CD7 over here for me, too. I also have no desire to DTD right now, although I want to aim for at least once this week just for DH.

Yes, my cycle was wonky, and no on the AF front-I would be shocked if any sort of real "AF" showed up before she's due again at the end of this cycle (or maybe NOT-c'mon, sticky baby!). I am hoping it was merely a fluke thing, but am glad that I can get bloodworm done in the chance that it's not. I do highly, highly recommend OPKs. Then again, I went from 0-60 with all of this pretty quickly, so feel free to ignore my "MORE INFORMATION=BETTER":-).

Italy in April? Woo to the hoo! We were actually there last April, staying just outside of Cortona. It was lovely-too early for tourist season so pretty empty. It was a touch chilly, though, so make sure to pack layers!

@tarariggins: hoping this is your cycle, too!!

@snowjewelz: Well I just started popping prenatals (can't believe I haven't started that yet) and I told the husband that we are just going to have sex every other day. (He is pretty happy about that plan)- Any other recommendations?
