Woohoo!!! Finally got a smiley happy face on OPK. I actually squealed and ran back to bed. Husband was very confused but very happy that he got his favourite morning wake up this has worked out really well hopefully as I should have o'd by Thursday when I go out of town on a trip.
@theotherstark: glad you got your smiley face too! Yay!
@MrsHansen82: I can't even imagine how crazy il be if I get KU. I am so excited at just the thought if it. I went shopping with one if my best friends yesterday and she told
Me she was off BC too so we went a little crazy and went to a baby shop 'just to look'. Think I found my stroller though! Haha I swear I am actually not this mental usually.

So here's where I am: V Day was less than exciting...meaning we BDed, but it was very forced. We've both been exhausted from work lately. I have had EWCM like crazy for the past 4 days. I finally got what I think are positive OPKs tonight at around midnight with concentrated urine and again around 3:00am with less concentrated(I just wanted to make sure it was a true positive). So here I am, in bed at almost 4:00am with a positive OPK and DH is too tired to BD... I'm going to try to get him on board, but not holding my breath. We both work evenings, so tonight we didn't get home from work until 1:00am. It makes BD so difficult sometimes. My sleep schedule is ridiculous. Anyway as of tomorrow I guess I'll be in the TWW. Here we go again!
@Kbee: Welcome! Where are you in your cycle? When is your test date? I think most of us are Oing right around now.

@MrsHansen82 Thank you! I am on day 9 now, and I usually ovulate around CD 21/22, so I've got a little under 2 weeks to wait I'm wondering if my cycle this month will be different following a chemical pregnancy, so we'll see. Earlier would obviously be better! The wait feels eternal.
I'm so sorry you're having trouble with night shifts, that does sound difficult. Can you BD when you wake up?

@MrsHansen82: Ugh, I'm sorry your schedules are off. But horray for a positive OPK!
@Mrs.Lilac: Ooh, glad you got your smiley OPK as well! I use the regular line ones; the smiley kind seem so much more cheerful and encouragin though
@Kbee: That is a long wait! I hope things normalize quickly for you.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: SO glad for you!! Hooray for almost being in the TWW!
@MrsHansen82: Awesome and dark OPKs-way to go! Hope you were able to BD at some point!
@theotherstark: How was your timing?
@holisticmama: Any updates?
AFM, I feel like I'm in really annoying limbo. I'm on my SIXTH day of "high" fertility reading from the ClearBlue monitor. I'm now beginning to feel wary of whether or not it's actually working. I have watery CM, but no EW since Friday. I want to make BD happen tonight and Weds, and then I'm gone Thurs-Sun:-(. Negative OPKs-I have NO idea why I got a positive on Saturday morning. I need to test OPK this afternoon, but I'm not holding out much hope.
I said it before, and I'll say it again...this process is not for the faint of heart! Hope I "catch" some of your ladies' O-dust and I can join you in the TWW SOOOOOON.

@MrsHansen82: yay for your positive OPKs. I know what you mean about the forced BD situation. it can feel forced and I'm definitely viewing it in a different less fun light at the moment. it shouldn't be all business and no pleasure should it!
@theotherstark: the smiley face does make it all seem happy! I was very pleased!
@ChiCalGoBee: yep, this process is not easy. my friend is TTC and is just totally leaving it to fate. she didn't know her cycle at all when we were chatting and it must be such a simpler way to go about this but I'm an too type A for that! it sounds very annoying to be in limbo, that sucks.
nectarine / 2784 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: I got six highs in a row too, and as of today I've decided to not use test any more this cycle (which was hard to resist this morning!!) but ultimately I decided that our plan is the same either way (aim to have sex tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday morning) so there's no point in wasting the sticks. If we weren't going to be traveling this week it would be a different story, but I guess I feel like predicting O won't change anything this time around so I'll just try to confirm with temps
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: uuugh, sorry about limbo That sucks. I hope you O soon!! As far as I know, watery is still high fertility, though? If I O'ed when I am pretty confident I did, we hit O-4, O-3, O-2, O-1, and O. So we'll see!
@anyajenkins: Hopefully they turn into BFPs in two weeks!

Can I be reallllly whiny and vent for a minute? DH went up to bed super early tonight, saying he thinks he's getting sick. Of course, curiosity got the best of me, and I took a final OPK for the day- which was, of course, positive. Although that's a GREAT thing....I am lacking BD action, so I'm now suppppper panicked we're totally screwed for timing this month . Although it was a smiley face, it still wasn't as dark as the control line, so I'm hoping that means BDing tomorrow evening still gives us a shot. I'm a little worried, because if he's actually sick (cough *man "flu"* cough), we get to have a not-so-fun evening where I basically beg him to BD with me and he isn't into it/won't do it.
I need ALL KINDS of luck for tomorrow, ladies. Or maybe just a tiny wish that sleeping 10 hours will make him magically better? FX FX FX FX.

@theotherstark: Uhm-you WIN. I am openly jealous of your awesome timing and commitment to BD. Any tips for how you get hubby to be so on board? GOOD work!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@anyajenkins: Your restraint is admirable!! Sounds like we're basically similar in our cyclical timing, although unless Friday night's BD somehow has staying power (or tomorrow a BD can actually happen), I'm probably screwed this month. Hoping your hubby is super on it over the next few days!!
apricot / 348 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: that is annoying about your husband. I have had similar issues to some extent since I had a smiley face on the OPK. My hubby was all for it but I think as soon as I said I was potentially o'ing he seemed to lose interest. I resorted to buying some new underwear yesterday which definitely helped! You could always just put in extra effort and put on some sexy undies and try and seduce him a little Or if he is saying he is 'ill' or too tired, can you suggest some very easy going spooning BDing as that is very easy and even if he is 'ill' it shouldn't be to strenuous? Good luck x
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Ugh, I'm sorry your husband is sick That's really frustrating. We actually cut back from last month - we both were a little over it by the end, and even this month, I know DH has been stressed with work and wasn't incredibly into it some nights. I definitely see how rough TTC BDing can be! It can feel very forced, and stressful when one person just isn't feeling it that night. I'm not sure I have much advice - I have been breaking out all of my lingerie, and trying to make things as fun as I can.
I hope he's feeling better tomorrow!!

@ChiCalGoBee: You're totally not screwed. Sperm can live for 5 days in a happy environment. How is DH feeling tonight?
Would a new position excite him at all? Does he like DTD from behind?
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: Yesssss.....that's exactly what I'm afraid of. A similar thing happened last month. He initially said he wants to know when our Horizontal Mamboing is "for the money," but when I told him, he completely panicked. I want to AVOID that this time if at all possible. However, if he really isn't in the mood because of this 'sickness,' I'm going to have to. We've really been enjoying BD the last two months, so I'm really hoping he'll come through for me (well there's a pun!) when I need him to. FX!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@THEOTHERSTARK: I would soooooo be over it after that much BD. I definitely like it, but that sounds exhausting. HOPING your dedication paid off!!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@HolisticMama: All of those things are going to be tried tonight! Like I said above, I do love DTD....and I know it sucks that there is so much pressure around today (see below). However, he is the one who came to me and said he was ready to try at the beginning of January, so this constitutes "actively trying." Tonight would be great-tonight and tomorrow would send me into the TWW feeling like I really gave it my best shot.
Congrats on your EOD, despite a busy schedule!! Rock on!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Ha, yes. Exhausting. But fun I think we both keep up with it because I keep my husband aware re: my fertile time, so he knows when it has to happen. Just try to make it happen tonight (ie with lingerie, etc). If he says he isn't in the mood, let him know that if you miss it, then you're out for the month. It might get him motivated; you never know!
Ahh, fingers crossed!! I need my cycle buddy in the TWW with me And btw, did you BD recently? Remember that sperm can live up to 5 days or so in fertile CF.
nectarine / 2028 posts
Here's where we're at. ALL systems go...as long as the Man Cold doesn't interfere! He DID wake up this morning saying that the sleep "helped," but "I've felt better." Sigh, gotta love Man Cold! Here's hoping that sexy lingerie does the trick for me tonight!
p.s. @theotherstark: We BDed on Friday night. I know it potentially still means some swimmers are there, but I'll feel much better if we get tonight and even tomorrow. FXFXFX!!

@ChiCalGoBee: That's awesome and thanks for documenting it! Which OPK do you use? Sorry if you mentioned it before; I'm just catching up from the weekend!
Yesterday was my POAS date. AF hasn't came but I'm positive it's not due to BFP, but b/c my cycle is still wack and this cycle is now longer than my last!

I am jealous of the positive OPKs. I really like OPKs, but I drink way too much water and am terrible at holding for me to ever really get a positive OPK.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@HolisticMama: Hmm I should get real good OPKs then since I don't drink enough water Which is bad!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: FX!!!! Hope you get some more BDing in tonight
@HolisticMama: Do you test multiple times during the day? Have you tried FMU?
nectarine / 2028 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm happy to share (clearly), which is why I took pics to put on our newbie board! My OPKs are Clearblue Digital (http://www.clearblueeasy.com/clearblue-easy-digital-ovulation-test.php). I found them to be more affordable at Target (versus Walgreens/CVS). Like I've said before, knowledge is power for me, and I have so little control over this process that two different sources screaming at me to HAVE SEX TODAY!!!!! is what I need:-). As an aside, the pamphlet that comes with the OPKs says to "disregard" lines, but you can clearly see what's happening so I always pay attention .
@holisticmama: I suckkkkkk at drinking water. Really and truly. It's on my list to improve about myself. However, it's super helpful to have the ability to watch OPKs become positive, so....??
persimmon / 1167 posts
@theotherstark: Yeah. I test at work and sometimes when I get home. I've used FMU and SMU. LOL. I'm a mess. Haha. I'm still pretty confident that I am ovulating though...so I guess it's okay. We'll catch it with EOD BDing.
persimmon / 1167 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: I try to keep my water up to make sure that I have nice CM.
OH OH! I also read in the bathroom of my RE that they want you to have a full bladder for all procedures because it aligns the vagina/uterus to help it be more successful??? Although I haven't tried DTD on a really full bladder...that sounds awful.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@snowjewelz: I also forgot to add...after coming off BC it personally took my body a while to regulate...hell, I've been off since August and still don't have 100% predictable cycles! This is why using these tools is so helpful for me. Had I just gone based on last cycle, I wouldn't think I'm ovulating until Sat/Sun. So definitely give your body a chance to get used to BC-free life, and if you're willing to spend a little $$, you can hopefully get info on ovulating:-).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Thanks! I want to order strips from Amazon since they are even cheaper, but I do like the sticks so I don't want to dip the strips & use a cup!
Yeah, I had a perfect cycle right off BCP and I thought for a moment that it will continue Silly me! So yes, now I realize I NEED to use OPKs, since I don't think I can DTD EOD! Esp when I don't even know how long the cycle will be!
nectarine / 2784 posts
@HolisticMama: I didn't occur to me that drinking water would hinder opks, but I drink TONS of water and have terrible luck with opk so that makes sense
Well we've DTD now for 7 out of 7 days.. I think this is a new record since our honeymoon! I'm actually surprised by myself since I have the lower drive. But I have a HIGH baby drive! So it's a win win for now.. Probably not so much if we're still trying for the next 10 cycles
nectarine / 2028 posts
@HolisticMama: you're the queen of useful tips!! Thank you!!! Let's see if I can DTD with a full-ish bladder. I then like to lay down for the 30 mins following, so it might get dicey. Ahhhh so excited and nervous for tonight. I want this sooooooooooo badly!!!
persimmon / 1167 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Have you and DH had a real heart to heart about what baby making entails?
I thought I could just seduce DH into making a baby the first month and then the second month I thought I could be really casual. But I have learned that DH really wants to know all the ins and outs. (:: snicker ::) At first he didn't even realize the egg only lasts 12-24 hours.

@anyajenkins: I am impressed! You go, girl. We hit 7 out of 8 days last cycle and I was so proud of us Ha. Fingers crossed it worked for you! I can't remember - have you O'd yet?
@HolisticMama: It's so funny how little the guys know! Well, then again, it's funny how little I knew before I started researching, so I guess it makes sense
@ChiCalGoBee: Ahhh fingers crossed!!
I love that so many of us will be in the TWW at the same time. At least we'll be able to symptom spot together!
nectarine / 2784 posts
@theotherstark: I don't know! I'm hoping yesterday or today but temps have yet to confirm
Question for those who monitor cervix position, etc.. Last night while DTD it was one of those times where it felt like my cervix was RIGHT THERE and kept getting hit (not in a painful way, just aware of its presence). That means my cervix is positioned low right now, right? Which means low fertility? Funny because you'd think it would be the opposite- low cervix on fertile days to give sperm a shorter path
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@anyajenkins: wow, high five! I don't even think we've DTD 3 days in a row
nectarine / 2028 posts
@HolisticMama: Yeah, we need to have that talk-maybe if this cycle doesn't work. He said he wants to know when stuff's happening, but last cycle when he wasn't in the mood to DTD and I told him it was O day, it caused a huge argument and an unsuccessful BD. I don't want to call it, erm, "Stage fright," but yeah-it kind of was. I'm keeping the "science lab" running in our bathroom and he's aware that I'm keeping track of it, but doesn't know all the deets. I'm also so anxious during this time of the cycle that I know any huge argument will be a bigger deal to me than it actually is.
In sum: As long as we can have a good time and successfully BD, I'm happy to keep the specifics to myself...for now. In subsequent cycles I might have to give him warning a few weeks in advance. If he thinks it's fun while we're doing it, though, then I'm happy to do it this way.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@anyajenkins: Check out that chart! Impressive! It looks like you got a pretty big temp raise today, so I think you're a TWW lady officially! I know you need three temps, but today's looks awesome.
persimmon / 1167 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: DH seems to operate a lot better with knowing everything well in advanced. Last cycle we got into a a big fight around O time and DH simply cannot get in the mood if he's feeling stressed or anxious. And I'm sure it makes him feel bad.
I think knowing when our fertile week is makes DH be able to prep himself and get in the mood. But each man is different- some men feel like it is added pressure.
