I'm so upset and DH even more so. I haven't seen my boys since last Thursday and they're supposed to come home today, I was planning to leave in half an hour to go get them! But their plane was rerouted from Chicago to Milwaukee because of a storm in Chicago... But now that they're in Milwaukee the pilot said they're going BACK to Chicago! We live in Minnesota, so it'd make more sense for him to catch a flight from Milwaukee since it's only an hour flight...
DH said Cobi is absolutely miserable 
I feel so badly and now it just keeps getting put off when I'll see them.

DH just text me... they're going back to Chicago... ugh. That means it will be a total of FOUR flights just to get from NY to MN. DH said Cobi is miserable and inconsolable
He had totally been fine on the way TO NY. But getting up at 4am sure takes its toll.

@Mrs. Rabbit: It's just awful. He's back in Chicago, but they told him all the flights to Minnesota are full so he's basically on stand by for the entire day. I'm so livid right now. And all of this with a tired, cranky 2.5 year old.

@GreenThumb: I'm just so upset about how the airlines have handled this whole thing! I don't know why they didn't let him try to catch a flight out of Milwaukee since it's closer (though, not by much) and putting a solo parent with a toddler through more flights than what's necessary! And then telling him oh well too bad, flights are full. I mean really?! A whole flight of passengers missing their connections and they just act like NBD let them figure it out.

@Mrs. Pen: I know! The airlines are just terrible at customer service these days!! They just don't want to deal with people and cannot think outside the box. We ended up being stuck in Chicago one night… no voucher for hotel because it was weather-related and ended up on a bus to Milwaukee in the middle of the night because that was where our car was and we just wanted to get home that night. And that was before LO… they definitely should have SOME more compassion for people traveling with little ones especially!!

I remember when I was traveling home from NZ and there were flight issues because of something wrong with the plane? We were delayed nearly two hours, and by the time we made it to LAX, we had missed our connection. They were SO nice though and paid for our hotel and gave us meal vouchers at a super nice restaurant in the hotel, and arranged a flight for us the following morning. That was almost ten years ago

Weather and mechanical delays get a completely different customer service response. The airlines will tell you they have no control over the weather and will essentially make little to no effort for accommodating travellers.
While customer service in the airline industry has changed over the past 10 years due to consolidation and less competition, your experience from 10 years ago was likely more favorable due to being mechanical. Your DH would also be having a more favorable experience if this was a mechanical delay.
Sorry, that's not what you want to hear, as you just want your family home (which I understand), but its the truth.

@Mrs. Pen: oh no!! I'm so sorry!! If they were stuck in Milwaukee I totally could have met them at the airport and brought them a little care package!! (I'm currently like 5 minutes outside of the airport!) I hope they both come home to you soon!

@MrsBrewer: thankfully they got on the next flight. DH said the pilot was super kind, and asked another passenger to move so that there would be two open seats next to each other. We're driving home now!

@travelgirl1: yes! We tried to get J to nap when we got home and he wouldn't haha so when we went out to dinner he literally fell asleep on my chest! Gah it was so sweet. Slept through our entire meal.
