Boring question I know. We have all hardwood in the house and even on an area rug, I have to put a folded blanket down for T to play in the floor. It's not ideal. His space is limited and still if he lays his head down, which for him is SLAMMING his head down...there's no in between, it still results in a big scary thud.
I took him to my sisters yesterday and laid him in my nieces carpeted playroom and he played for hours with no head banging. He was able to roll and squiggle all over the place. I want a place where he can do this at home because I feel like he's not getting enough floor time as he should because the pack n play is the only place I feel safe leaving him on his belly and that is so small.
I brought it up to DH about installing carpet in our small spare room and turning it into a playroom. He agreed. But now he wants to just put foam playmats down, which will be about half the price of carpet. I'm just afraid it won't be padded enough that I can just let T play without worrying about head thudding. Also when he's walking we won't have to worry too much about falls.
What do you all think? Are foam mats soft enough? Neither of us will budge! Lol
