We are hosting a cookie decorating party for some friends and their kids next weekend. I'm drawing a blank for the main dish to offset all that sweetness. My husband suggested ham, but I've never made one before. Any suggestions?

I second chili, or tacos. Both are easy "make it and leave it" type meals. A cookie party sounds fun!

Oh I like the chili idea. Plus elbow noodles, toppings, and cornbread! Crockpot it and make life easy

My friend does mini bagels as snowmen (raisins for eyes and a mini carrot nose) when she hosts cookie decorating parties. They're really cute!

@Tanjowen: @blackbird: Hmm, chili or tacos are great ideas. I was thinking I needed to do something super festive/Christmas-y, but I think your suggestions would be easier on me which is probably more important at this point.

I am having one next weekend too! Only it is at 4, so I am going to do snacky stuff. Not cure exactly but rotel/sausage dip and chips, hummus, puts chips, veggies, little smokies, mozzarella sticks(for the kids), and not sure what else. But there will be wine!!
I figure if everyone stays for dinner we will order pizza.
