If the tech was able to guess gender at your NT scan was the guess accurate once you found out for sure??
I had my NT scan at 12w1d and the tech made a fairly confident guess. As my anatomy scan approaches (23 days!!!) I'm getting really curious about whether she was right!

We didn't ask at the NT scan (DH guessed it was a boy though....and said for sure it was a boy at a 17w ultrasound...) so they didn't tell us.
What was his/her guess?!

I'm not there yet but I think I would trust the guess if it was a boy but be hesitant if it was a girl. I think you are more likely to not see a penis that is there than to see a penis that isn't!

@winniebee: She guessed girl!!! DH's family hasn't had a new girl born into it (on either side) in over 20 years and I'm really girly so that would be super exciting (even though any baby is obviously exciting…being a boy mommy would take some adjustment on my part but I think I'd love it!).
@MamaMoose: I definitely agree with that!Since it was so early at my U/S her guess was based off the nub theory I believe. So we'll see

Our tech guessed boy at NT scan and was right...BUT my bro/sil were given a boy guess early on, didn't do an anatomy scan and had a girl 6 months later.

I have a friend who got an 85% estimate that hers was a girl. She was super excited because she already has two boys. It ended up being a boy at 20 weeks. Very sad friend!

@Mrs. Jacks: Aw man! Poor friend! When my husband's grandmother had her third baby she was really drugged and didn't really know what was going on at the time of delivery. So later when she was more aware she had to ask one of the nurses what she had. The nurse told her she had a boy and she was soooo happy because she already had two girls. Turns on the nurse must have thought she was in a different room or something because it was a baby girl!! When they brought the baby to her Grammy kept trying to tell them it wasn't her baby!!

My tech didn't guess! Even at the anatomy scan she wouldn't give me 100% that it was a girl

And that's all I have to contribute to this thread, lol. The tech didn't make a guess at the NT scan, and by the time our A/S came along we'd decided not to find out the sex.

My nurse guessed the gender at 9 weeks! She said she's not sure but feels good about her guess. She was right!! I don't know if she was BSing or what but she was right nonetheless.

@running elley: Yes, it's a girl! I asked her at the time what made her think it was a girl and she said she could tell based on the "nub". NO idea what that means but she said that if she had to bet money on it, she would say girl. I told her the other day that she was right and she said she's been right the last 5 times!

I guessed based on the "nub" (or what I thought was the nub) in one or two of my pictures from 12w, and it was correct, girl! I don't really know how accurate the nub theory is, though, since I did have a 50/50 shot of getting it right based on the nub!

@banana: @googly-eyes: My tech guessed based off the nub too! I knew about the theory just because there's a big thread about it on WB with U/S pictures and people guessing (and they're usually right!!) but I wasn't going to try because I'm really bad at it. It sounds like it's pretty accurate!

They guessed for me and it was later confirmed - girl! The guessing tech didn't want to say and I really pushed her for a guess. When she guessed girl, I asked what percentage - 20%, 50%, 80% or she really couldn't tell. She said 90%. I asked why she was so sure and she said "well we look for these three lines here" and pointed to them - they were as clear as day. I asked what they were, and they were the labia. I then asked if a boy could ever have those three lines and she looked at me like I had 3 heads and said no, never - they would have a penis and scrotum. Haha. The next ultrasound our little girl had her legs wide open and it was an 'oh yeah, definitely a girl'. I have another ultrasound next week and still want to triple check though, otherwise our son will need to learn to enjoy a purple room and lots of pink clothes.
P.S. I hope your tech was right!!!

@Running Elley I just browsed the pics on the thread and saw yours, I agree, it looks like a girl, but I'm no expert! At first it looked like it was at an angle, but when you compare it to the way the baby is, it looks like a girl! On a sidenote I mostly thought ours was a boy until I looked for the nub about a week before my a/s! I had heard of the nub theory but I didn't even look til then- I didn't think I could find the nub, but after looking for five or so mins I found it.
Are you hoping for a particular gender?

We were given a guess of girl, and it was right! Going into the NT scan I had no idea that they might be able to tell you a gender that early, but apparently they can as long as the baby is in the right position, and the person reading the ultrasound is very good.
I'm curious if anyone received an incorrect guess. I think DH's cousin did, but I'm not entirely sure...

@googly-eyes: Thanks for making a prediction! I'd slightly prefer a girl just because of my really girly personality and tastes, I just think I'd be a better girl mom but I wouldn't be disappointed if the baby is a boy.
@skibobrown: I've never heard of anyone IRL that got a wrong guess, at least no one recently (obviously I've heard stories from like 20 years ago where people were wrong but I think things have advanced since then).
ETA: My tech said that she had 23 years experience and I honestly don't think she would have even told me a guess unless she was pretty sure but we'll see!
