5 years ago: both of us would have been working overnights at the university (where I still work)
10 years ago: I was in high school so it meant gathering at someone's house for a party or to watch movies and hang out.

@Freckles: Same here! We used to go out every Friday before kids, and now we only go out if we have a babysitter, which isn't very often. And if we do go out, we are home way earlier than before kids.

Friday typically means picking up take out (which is fun because we are new to the area and so lots of new restaurants to try) and watching a movie or playing a board game. Five years ago it used to mean dinner out a play or movie or other event. 10 years ago I was single and usually going out with my roommates to dinner or a bar or concert.
