I hear ya, sister! One of my best friends called the other day to check in. We haven't talked in a while and she kept asking what was new with us. It was SO HARD not to tell her!!!

does homemade ice cream have raw eggs in it?

I had that too. We were at a party and a friend was talking about how his wife was newly pregnant and said, "I bet nobody else can beat that news." My whole family was there, and they all knew, so we just sat there in silence. I felt bad because nobody said anything back to him!

Ifyou use fresh off the farm eggs then there is no risk of salmonella. I just learned this, but washing eggs is what exposes them to bacteria (the eggs are naturally coated with anprotectove barrier), so if you use fresh farm eggs ad wash them right before you use them then there is no risk! We make our own homemade mayo which is raw eggs, and I've never gotten sick using fresh eggs!

@ladyfingers: ifyou wash them RIGHT before you use them then it's fine, there is no time for them to be exposed to anything. And washing involves just running them under water and wiping it with a paper towel, then crack it open!

My dad has chickens so we get some eggs from him, otherwise we found a farm that sells them to us for $2.50 a dzn! It can be hard to find though. I know of a website that has some listing if you're interested!
